Laura (ltoops) | 12 comments If we're doing classics, how about the Woman in White, by Wilkie Collins.

Hey again,

Lindsay, what do you think. Should we set a date until we take the suggestions before we start doodle, in order to close the polls next weekend for example? Maybe we could take suggestions until Tuesday or Wednesday night, then post a doodle and close it next week-end, Saturday or Sunday? That should give everybody enough time to come up with an idea and to vote?

See you all very soon!

Will someone nutshell the general opinions about The Help from the meeting i was sorry to miss.

Thanks Viviane for you suggestion of Daphne du Maurier. I have been wanting to read her. Do you want to suggest one specifically so Lindsay can include it on the doodle?

Kathleen

Kiwi (Karin) (kiwikarin) Hi everyone,
this is the first time I get to suggest actively (until now it was a bit via Frizzi ;-))
Great idea to suggest the classics - I would like to add "Wuthering Heights" (Emily Bronte) to the list.

As for the "Help" session: everyone who was there liked the book. We worked through a list of questions suggested in Gigna's book (did I spell your name correctly?? If not, my apologies....) with great discussions in the group.

Looking forward to the next book and meeting!
Kiwi (Karin)

Viviane | 172 comments Hi again !

If I had to choose between Rebecca and Jamaica Inn, it would be Rebecca :) .

Caroline (liney) | 22 comments Hi,

My suggestion is Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe.

message 10: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca Manor (rmanor) HI,
Just thought I'd introduce myself. I'm new to Paris and will be here for 10 months. Looking forward to meeting you all and discussing a classic. I'm currently alternating one classic and then a contemporary book and am enjoying the contrast. Currently reading Sherlock Holmes - it's been fun. Otherwise, I haven't read Woman in White and would be interested in that.

Cheers!
-Rebecca

Kathleen (pariskat) | 47 comments Hi Rebecca,

Welcome!

I have never read Sherlock Holmes; i would like too. The leader of my cinema discussion group (which you all may also like) says she liked the recent movie with only a few reservations but declared that Jade Law nailed Watson.

Hi,

I've just moved to Paris and will be here for about 9 months and I would really love to come along to the meetings. I've never read Rebecca but have seen the film with Joan Fontaine. Just finished Against A Dark Background by Iain Banks, love to read the classics aswell.

Thanks,
Becca

Hey,

Good idea to postpone the meeting a little. But since we have a long week-end (and I believe like me there are many people leaving town), do you think it best to postpone it only by 3 days to Thursday before the week-end or then the week afterwards, from Wednesday on?

See you soon :)

Rebecca Manor (rmanor) Week after works for me!

Kiwi (Karin) (kiwikarin) Hi Frizzi,
I suppose the meeting 2morrow is at the Imprévu (or sth similarly called), near Centre Pompidou?
