Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments Erin and I will be reading A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness in October and discussing it here. Feel free to join in!

Erin (erin-b) I'm still waiting on a copy of this from the library, but hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week.

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments Sounds great to me. That will give me a chance to finish reading Best Food Writing 2010 before it needs to go back to the library.

message 4: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Ok I finally picked up A Discovery of Witches yesterday and am ready to start it whenever you are.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Can I join this discussion. I just received a copy of this on my kindle app from the library. Would love to chat with others about it.

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments Leslie, please join us. The more readers the merrier. I'm ready to start tonight.

message 7: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Excellent, I'm excited to start reading this.

message 8: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Really liking this so far. I had trouble putting it down last night.

message 9: by Julia (new)

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments I'm really enjoying this book too. I like how the author is doing the world building. I'm learning about some things at the same time as the heroine is.

message 10: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Yeah, I love the world building. It's really interesting. I believe the author is a history professor and it shows.

message 11: by Julia (new)

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments I didn't realize the author was a history professor. I wish some of the professors I had would have written this well. One of the other things I'm liking about this book is that I don't feel like I can anticipate where the story is headed.

Yes do join us!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I won't be able to get to this book until this weekend but I am enjoying reading your comments and really looking forward to reading it. Thanks!

Yeah, that would have been nice back in college. This is certainly one where I can't anticipate what is going to happen next. I'm about 3/4 of the way through now, but I'm still not sure where the story is heading. Enjoying it a lot though.

~Sara~ | 667 comments I just picked up this book from the library last week but haven't started it yet. I need to get my butt in gear so it's not due back before I finish reading it! Joining you all in reading it is great incentive to do so! I'll post again with my first impressions once I've read a bit more (I'm currently on page 6 of 579).

I hope you enjoy it. I just finished it today and really liked it.

message 17: by Julia (new)

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments Erin, I just finished it this evening. I'm really looking forward to reading more from this author.

Sara I hope you like it as much as Erin and I have.

message 18: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) I'm looking forward to more by this author as well. Looks like it might be a while until book two comes out, but I look forward to reading it when it does. Glad you enjoyed it too Julia. Gracie and Sara, hope you both like it!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Just started this book this morning and so far really enjoying it. I'm about 10% done-that's what kindle app says!

message 20: by Julia (new)

Julia (jkaymac) | 40 comments Leslie, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

message 21: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments I'm about 70% done and loving this book. I really didn't expect to like it this much. I love historical fiction, so the fact that the author is a history professor really shows. Really interesting world she has created here and I love the romance.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Finished the book this morning. Really loved it though I had a few problems- gave it 4 stars but it was closer to 5. Just some little things that bothered me. Looking forward to the sequel.

message 23: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Glad you liked it Leslie. I love that the author was a historian, you could really tell. I gave it the same rating, and now wait impatiently for the next book. I always say I'm not gonna pick up a new series until there are at least a couple of books already written, but once again I couldn't resist.
