Do you like having a map in a mystery/suspense/thriller, showing where the action takes place?

Definitely! It makes the setting more realistic. I like to visit the places where favorite books were set when I travel.
I also find it makes the story setting less confusing. EG, if a character is running from a threat, it can be illuminating to see the path the character has to take.As for visiting places where books are set....I'm visiting Bordeaux France in December (daughter is studying there). Anybody know any good mysteries or thrillers set in that region?
