"We might have to leave quickly so you'll need your energy," he explained.

I sighed. "Ok...." I finished my salad.

I looked up at him.

He looked down at her.

She smiled faintly.

He smiled at her, his pointy teeth sticking out awkwardly.

She giggled. "You're goofy." She pounced on him, tickling him.

He was tickled to death... laughing! He unfortunately couldn't tickle her back... cuz of his CLAWS!

She giggled, they had fallen over and were now lying side by side. "I love you, EJ."

[E.J.]

"I love you too, my child," he laughed.

She cuddled up against his warm side, pillowing her head on his chest.

In this position they fell asleep... (Ironically I'm about to so G'NIGHT!)

She slept dreamlessly, feeling safe by his side.

In the middle of the night, there was the sound of hooves clipping through the night air.

She woke up, hearing the hoofbeats. She shook EJ. "EJ..."

[E.J.]

EJ woke up. The sound of shouts and roars filled the air. The creatures of darkness had broken through the barrier. The other villages were doomed if they weren't warned.

She whimpered. "I'm scared...." She screamed as she felt something wrap around her ankles.
