message 7601: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The feathers they left
were collected together
and used to dust dreams.

message 7602: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Ships made of dreams - wow!! What an image :D

message 7603: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments She abandons day
for a raven feather cloak
and clandestine dreams.

message 7604: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments He packed his bags, flew
to Sumatra, swore off Day,
turned up Sinatra.

message 7605: by Ryan (last edited Jan 16, 2016 05:06AM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Over the rainbow
his halcyon flight, brought him
to lazuline skies

where cups of Java
the color of night, woke joy
in his old blue eyes.

message 7606: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Was Al then a writer dreaming she was a pirate, or is she now a pirate, dreaming she is a writer?

message 7607: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Lol!

message 7608: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments Eyes are the windows
To long forgotten secrets,
better left alone

message 7609: by M (last edited Jan 22, 2016 06:04AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Well, this is an attempt to follow Nadia’s.

“How the lonely calls
of distant freight trains haunted
winter nights!” Her clothes

were faded, antique,
her eyes like Gothic windows
with old, wavy panes.

She spoke, in the way
an evening wanes before ghosts
wander bare corn rows,

of rusting barbed wire,
late-autumn’s crows, and elm-lined,
wagon-rutted lanes.

message 7610: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments The salesman who eyed
Mrs. Purvis snickered, suave
and well anointed:

“Don’t ever expect
good service and you’ll never
be disappointed.”

message 7611: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Alex! I’ve perfected 5-7-5’s that are thread killers.

message 7612: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LOL!

Well, lets see if I can create a Haiku zombie.

Mrs. Purvis stood
at the centre of her store
in a black g-string.
Her grey eyes with fifty shades
left him wanting to leave her.

message 7613: by M (last edited Jan 22, 2016 05:01PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Slyly she murmured,
“Lager or Bach?” but her words
were like a bee sting.

Muzak’s “Crocodile
Rock” echoed dismally, then
“Air on the G String.”

message 7614: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Lol! Very funny M. Great continuation.

message 7615: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Guy! Yours was fun to follow.

message 7616: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments Music no longer
is what I remember it.
The days have gone by
They leave us with naught
music is quite surely dead
or just really ill.

message 7617: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Very nice, Nadia! And I concur.

message 7618: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments He thought of the fear
in her face, of her drab gown,
the number she’d scrawled

on a torn matchbook--
a seedy place south of town,
where scorpions crawled.

message 7619: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Hers were nights of chips
and Rotel, worn-out old songs,
a fleabag motel.

message 7620: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The flea's bag was small
And in it was to be found
Little but enough.

message 7621: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments He could do the Raid
Six Step in three. On the horn,
he played “Wonder Flea.”

message 7622: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Lol!

message 7623: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments A war on humans
shall ensue this very night
Fleas will die no more.

message 7624: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments “A Black Plague outbreak?”
he spluttered. “That’s--” He stubbed out
his cigar. “Well, rats.”

message 7625: by Guy (last edited Feb 08, 2016 11:15PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments This rat liked stogies
While he waited in back lanes,
His fedora dark,
His clients nervous and few,
But very tall and pretty.

message 7626: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments “His clients nervous and few . . .” What a memorable line! This little verse is like an engraving, the images are so sharp.

message 7627: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments Come one and come all,
Money spent on circus tent,
Be thee big or small.

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments M wrote: "“His clients nervous and few . . .” What a memorable line! This little verse is like an engraving, the images are so sharp."

Thank you, M! So glad you liked it. Re-reading it, I'm scratching my head as to where in me the ideas for it arose.

message 7629: by Guy (last edited Feb 08, 2016 11:21PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments .

She took the money
even with knowing its source,
a tiny big man.

message 7630: by M (last edited Feb 09, 2016 03:24PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments She made a strange sound,
choked, glottal. The little man
dwelled in a bottle!

But was he fauna
or flora? Homunculus
or mandragora?

message 7631: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Very very clever M! And a serious challenge to follow!

message 7632: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Guy!

message 7633: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments on black satin sheets
she gave herself to the moon,
rose petals and thorns

message 7634: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Where we dance on pointe,
without blisters or tutus,
lift with strength and grace.

message 7635: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments She knew his murmurs
in midnight’s blur came from dreams
of other than her.

message 7636: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments She was troubled,
sitting awake listening to
his 'adventures'.

message 7637: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Nicely followed, Lee-lette!

message 7638: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Thanks M :)

message 7639: by Guy (last edited Feb 13, 2016 02:49PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Nice one, Lee-lette! Such a great one to follow.

The sound of silence
Rests uneasily again
between sweat wet sheets,
beneath this cold starry night,
its unseen darkness and dawn.

message 7640: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments I tried to write dawn
and how I love you; some things
are far beyond words

message 7641: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments A glimmer, a glance,
But these are words unspoken,
Still, he took a chance.

message 7642: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments She peered from dice dots,
from cards’ pips, the evening’s haze
exhaled through her lips.

message 7643: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments These are awesome guys!!! I don't think I can follow this!

message 7644: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments [Thank you Lee-lette. Jump in! Your writing is fine.]

Her breath moved the trees,
Lent truth to what wasn't said,
Cooled her lover's dreams.

message 7645: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments His dreams were wild,
but took a turn at
the mere thought of her.

message 7646: by Ryan (new)

message 7647: by Guy (last edited Feb 13, 2016 09:54PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments [Yes, very nicely done!]

Asleep in a dream
His thoughts are not what they seem
And she is his meme.

message 7648: by M (last edited Feb 14, 2016 04:29AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments She waited for him
in autumn’s halls, by white-oak-
shadowed waterfalls.

message 7649: by Guy (last edited Feb 15, 2016 04:11PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Her life is nigh done,
her now short hair grey and thin,
her lonely tears spent.

message 7650: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments She thought, “Had I to
do it over, I’d have bought
and new Land Rover.”
