message 551: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Morning, Alex!

message 552: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Great! We just finished breakfast. Now I'm off to the laundry room to see if I can come up with a story before the competition is over.

message 553: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I had grapefruit and bowl of some cereal that tastes like blueberry-flavored cardboard.

message 554: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I'm sure your story is better than mine is! As for that breakfast, it didn't do much for me, either.

message 555: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments M, that was very funny! I'll see if my story can get done before end of night - need to squeeze it in after work and pm chores.

Oops! 6:30 here, time to put the nose to the grindstone. Breakfast still 90minutes away - cranberry oatmeal cookie with freshly made loose leaf tea.

Violent Vi (violetk) | 133 comments Here's my spring haiku

Helicopters fall
Beautiful flower buds bloom
Cherry blossoms sprout

message 557: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Excellent haiku, Violet!

message 558: by Guy (last edited Mar 28, 2012 06:35AM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Violet, a 'real' Haiku, as M likes to say and a mighty fine one too! Nicely done. And I think, your first here in Jessica's thread.

message 559: by M (last edited Mar 28, 2012 07:48AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments What can I say? Leading lambs astray is what I was put on this earth to do . . .

The bass dreams of worms
that live in damp, rotting leaves
of forgotten fall.

message 560: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I have to go mow. I have no excuse for sitting here and having fun.

message 561: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments M too funny! And, actually, despite yourself, a real haiku. How odd! LoL.

message 562: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments If a flying squirrel
were to grow a beard, it would
not be half so weird.

message 563: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments If a flying beard
were to breed a chipmunk band,
fame would be fleeting.

message 564: by M (last edited Mar 28, 2012 06:13PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Re: The Chipmunks.
More to be wished than fame is
that it be fleeting!

message 565: by Guy (last edited Mar 29, 2012 12:26PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LoL!

It was Fleetwood's Mack
or maybe Fleet Foxes who
ended Chipmunk fame.

message 566: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments What ended their fame
is the question. What gave them
such indigestion?

Was it Fleetwood Mack
or chili mac or even
a Big Mac attack?

Neither consonants
nor vowels can diagnose
a chipmunk’s bowels.

message 567: by Guy (last edited Mar 29, 2012 02:01PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Hey, here's a Haiku from the still shy Elisabeth - she wrote off mine, but it ties in with M's too. Again, her first ever Haiku.

A Semi Mack Truck
Creams a full bellied sly Fox.
Would a star be born?

message 568: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Could deep fried road kill
Become the latest food fad
That Krispy Kreme stars?

message 569: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 181 comments I spice the red meat
My dad says I spice it wrong
I must start over :(

I have never tried this group
before I am new. . .

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments I might unjoin one
group called Coffee Discussion
said nonsense. . . I'm here!

LOL :P

message 572: by Guy (last edited Mar 30, 2012 08:55AM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Another one for Elisabeth, who has promised to sign up. This is in response to Guy's @ 911.

The Kreme de le Kreme
the needle is the choice fad
a deeply fried Brain.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments Story 'bout a squirrel
It wanted to do art things
run down-- on display!

message 574: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments To squirrel away
Creativity's wonder
is a low down shame.

message 575: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Creativity
Expresses the inner self
It is no man's shame.

message 576: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Thanks, Al, but I assure you I couldn't do it without the inspiration I get from this group.

message 577: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments My long-haired muse, who,
smiling, conspire to tempt, con-
fuse me with desire!

message 578: by Michelle (last edited Mar 30, 2012 02:30PM) (new)

Michelle | 181 comments Her long red hair flows
From her head like a wildfire
Engulfing her face

message 579: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Framed by fiery strands,
her pale eyes, like northern lights,
haunt unquiet nights.

message 580: by M (last edited Mar 30, 2012 02:27PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Alex! You’re far too kind. Your writing really does something for me, as well.

One way I deal with writer’s block is to turn the unwritten poem or story into the sort of challenge a puzzle is. It doesn’t always work. It didn't work with the story I started last week.

WHOA. I did not expect that.

message 582: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I think Michelle is doing pretty good! I like #924.

message 583: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 181 comments Thanks!

message 584: by M (last edited Mar 30, 2012 05:52PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments And very nice, too! How to reply to this one . . .

The eerie shadows
of her eyes cautioned me of
what must happen soon.

Like reeds in shallows
were her replies in fingers
of late afternoon.

message 585: by Violent Vi (new)

Violent Vi (violetk) | 133 comments I dont know if I can respond to that one M, but its a hackin awesome haiku! Here's another one

The wind blows kisses
Making my tender cheeks red
As I walk along

The snow beneath me
Sends chill shivers up my spine
Snowflakes falling light

message 586: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Thank you, Violet!

“Snowflakes falling light . . .” Nice image.

message 587: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Al, that was mighty fine! Mighty fine indeed. And Michelle, very beautiful. Violet, also evocative and immediate. Great imagery.

As to M's amazing writing, we Haiku old timers have been greatly spoiled with his creations. I highly recommend for those new to WSS Haiku to peruse the past. I go back a re-read them sometimes. The creativity is amazing.

Now what to write?

message 588: by Guy (last edited Mar 30, 2012 05:43PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments I have no idea why this came to mind from Violet's poem. But here it is:

The puckered blue lips
blew a quiet white lie vow
a snowman's I do.

Where flew rose petals
When they left your snow like skin
To face a cold night?

message 589: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Too soon we wander
into high nettles. Aye, there’s
the rub-a-dub-dub--

dreaming of red rose
petals surrounding a blonde-
haired girl in a tub.

message 590: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments LoL!

message 591: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Here is the tub's rub:
When with bathing blonde women
Remember to hum

Fever to produce
with warm and lush goat soap suds
A Mona Lisa smile.

message 592: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments “What are you humming?”
she asked languidly. “Is it
‘Asleep in the Deep’?”

Smiling and sliding
her legs around me, she seemed
to good not to keep.

message 593: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments It's always the legs
I tell the nice officer
That bring me to you.

Once the guy joins me
And hums Sea Lion Woman
My legs won't let go.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments The rain cried with him
It was when he spoke to Dad
He was in sorrow. . .

message 596: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments She and I were kids
Tiny romance, blinking, near
butterfly kisses. . . <3

message 597: by Guy (last edited Mar 30, 2012 10:01PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The innocent child
Thought a kiss was how to taste
The sound of laughter.

When she grew older
She realized that a kiss
Opened hidden truths.

After time she found
That what she had thought she knew
Was just a fleeting ...

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments Thunder I hear now
Sounds like grumbling, warning me
and I fear God then.

message 599: by M (last edited Mar 31, 2012 03:53AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Guy, I’ll follow the “Sea Lion Woman” link when I have a faster connection. I’m just now catching up, and thoroughly enjoying what was written late last night!

A distant thunder,
like a kettle drum, wakens
me to chill midnight

and the truth of what
I’ve become since she murmured
and turned out the light.

message 600: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments How did you know I’d made a video of it? It hasn’t been released except in Yugoslavia and East Texas.
