Another bullet dodged.

M | 11617 comments In a plump, wide-eyed
scrub tech was lodged the bullet
Nurse Lee deftly dodged.

message 7954: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Now years later with hairs
grey, nurse Lee retold
the story of that day.

message 7955: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments The story of Lee
Did not let up or let go
Of the grey matter.

message 7957: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Go for it! The seeds you have planted last year will sprout sometime this year! ;-)

message 7958: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Lee smiled and flicked out
the light. “What does it matter,
if gray cells or white?”

message 7959: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Water spewed out of her
companion's mouth in shock
"No difference, imagine that?"

message 7960: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments From his too small nose
A fountain it was arose
And sprayed his bare toes.

message 7961: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments He shrieked in surprise
at his nose's sudden rise
Thank goodness t'was only his nose!

message 7962: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments “Might as well do our
part!” one quipped. The surgical

all shapes and sizes
assaulted the vision of his eyes.

message 7964: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments I looked around but
did not see, anyone
to write haiku with me.

message 7965: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments He's there, you will find -
The phantom of the haiku,
Lee, inside your mind.

message 7966: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Never mind the mind.
It's the mindless mind to find
Wordless mind Haiku.

message 7967: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Now that you're here
writing with me,
My mind has gone blank.

The phantom of the haiku?
The mindless mind?
What sorcery is this!

message 7968: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments The Haiku Phantom
will contrive to strike again,
in 5-7-5!

message 7969: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments These haiku are tricky
5-7-5's so slippry
But I will survive!

message 7970: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Gloria Gaynor,
Alive where the mind is lost,
Sings in five part feet.

message 7971: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Lee in the audience
sighing in defeat, she
didn't understand a word.

message 7972: by Guy (last edited Mar 12, 2017 11:24PM) (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Lol!
[In many cases understanding is over rated, anyway. Something understood today will impede understanding something else tomorrow.]

To survive with will
Is Gloria's cry to arm
Our hearts and walk tall.

message 7973: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Can't fallow that one Guy

message 7974: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments [Hello, Lee. Trust your feelings, add some salt and pepper from your head, and you will do fine!]

message 7975: by M (last edited Mar 13, 2017 08:46AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Roy, plugging his ears
to Gaynor, found such yowling
a frightful drainer.

umm (theanimallover) | 92 comments Swift, beautiful fox
Run like the wind, run with the wind
Graceful perfect fox

message 7977: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Strayer | 338 comments A sensitive piece
Of data, which, if exposed,
Would change everything.

Nurse Lee, hands shaking,
Lifted the scalpel; her eyes
Grazed the doctor's neck.

message 7978: by M (last edited Mar 16, 2017 10:58AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments “A sensitive piece,”
Nurse Lee pondered, “in the old
recorded data . . .”

Finding it, she played
a surgery conducted
by Zubin Mehta.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments By that I meant the whole "Nurse Lee" and "Dr. CJ" part, hehe!

message 7981: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Dr. CJ, you must control your nurses!

message 7982: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Hey! What's that supposed to mean?

message 7983: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Sitting and watching attentively
she bit at her nails.
She looked at her watch.

message 7984: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Lee, what a great piece of writing! “. . . she bit at her nails. / She looked at her watch.”

“It’s no good looking
at your watch, Lee,” said CJ.
“It’s just half past three.”

message 7985: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Thanks M :)

She jumped in shock
taking half her nail off,
Caught red handed.

for the post of 'nurse.'

message 7988: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments The Phantom had struck
once more! A 5-7-5
was scrawled on the door.

message 7989: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Nurse Lee smiled an
innocent smile, checked her watch
and dashed on time.

message 7990: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (last edited Mar 19, 2017 11:25AM) (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4485 comments C. J. came in late.
"Just found out I'm a doctor!"
Nurse Lee was surprised.

(That was more of an inside joke, hehe. Should I keep it there? Now I'm self-conscious about it. Lol).

message 7991: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Nurse Lee scowled internally
at the doctor's wit.
'He's new!' "Hello, i'm nurse Smith"

message 7992: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Lee wrote: "Sitting and watching attentively
she bit at her nails.
She looked at her watch."

I agree with M, this is excellent writing.

And what a great sequence, everyone, so much fun.

message 7993: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Thanks Guy and M.

message 7994: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments Lee sat beside the nurses
in the nursing home
brushing cobwebs and dust away .

She blew at the book,
Creating a world wind of dust
Yet, she didn't even care.

For writing haiku was a must
To push her senility away.

(I don't know if that's still a haiku)

message 7995: by T (new)

T J (tjjaffe) | 119 comments I like "world wind"!

message 7996: by Lee (new)

Lee (lee-lette) | 1840 comments :) Feel free to jump in!

message 7997: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments As light sunbeams hit
colors and stories emerge
of forgotten hope

Out of the brown dust
a world of rainbow transforms
the old into new

Legends of princes
have long since been left behind
joy is in the dirt

Reality finds
itself as the hero now
out of dust comes hope.

message 7998: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Wow! That's beautiful, Nadia :)

message 7999: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments Excellent Lee and Nadia.

The joy enjoined dirt
Danced on sunlit laden dust,
and scoffed at heroes.

message 8000: by Nadia (new)

Nadia | 690 comments The hero replied
"what's sunlight when dragons fly?"
disdain in his eyes

"Dirt won't save you now,
happiness can't buy you friends,
dust is life undone"
