I haven't read all of Stephen King's novels but I have read "The Shining" and it is one of my favorites. I hope King does as good a job on the sequel as he did on the original book.

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Thanks to "The Simpsons" Tree House of Horrors I always hear "The Shinning" when I read the title "The Shining".

Groundskeeper Willy: [gasps] Boy... you read my thoughts! You've got the Shinning.
Bart Simpson: You mean "Shining".
Groundskeeper Willy: [sotto voce] Shh! You want to get sued?

Brandon Stenger I heard about this recently and I just can't get excited for it. If he had done this just a few years after The Shining came out, maybe, but it's been decades. I would much rather have had King in his prime tell this story than the King who put out Cell and Under The Dome.

I wasn't a fan of Cell, but I thought that Under The Dome was solid — terrible, atrocious, inexcusable ending notwithstanding. Duma Key is easily my favourite of his latter-days stuff.

You are absolutely right. Other than it being a bit long, I was enjoying the book until that ending spoiled it. I'll have to give Duma Key a try, I haven't read that yet.

I enjoyed Under The Dome immensely, and yes, the ending kinda was crappy. Dooma Key peaked my interest, but I didn't like it as much as Under teh Dome. I can't wait for 11/22/63 to come out being an alternate history fan, I can't picture what King will do with this.
