Samantha | 120 comments okay, listen up, idon't get it. What would wemen preach, a Bible that clearly states in corinthians 14:34 "wemon Should remian silent in Churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submision", Check it out for your self.

message 260: by [deleted user] (new)

okay,i will look in my bible...and yeah, iis ok,Emma i gossip to i was just being funny.

message 261: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Kay JL, it was just a misunderstanding.

But Samantha, the Bible was written by men. God could've narrated part of it, but we're talking about men with a very limited point of view. And the bible is misogynist in more than one way. The only story where a woman made a difference is when someone important marries them. Or Mary, or Esther. And that's all. The rest is about men. I personally think it was to take power from Pagan religions, which thought women was da bomb!

message 262: by Samantha (new)

Samantha | 120 comments the Bible was manualy written by men but God told them the exactly what to say.

message 266: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) samantha, that means that god is sexist and takes all women for granted. women are the reason we are here! without women, there would be no anything! of course, we need both genders to keep the species going but the endurance and strength of women are a huge part of the birthing process, and if god doesn't realize that, i don't want to be in any part of his crap religion.

message 267: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) although i do believe in god, i just don't go to church.

If you are Christian, God made it that way as punishment. Which is stupid.

message 269: by [deleted user] (new)

okay,so this is very random, what is a "misogynist"?

message 270: by [deleted user] (new)

oh,well God isnt that. He loves all of his people and even the people who do not worship him.

message 271: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
That's why he allows misery in the world, and sends word to his believers to kill infidels. Naturally.

message 272: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) if he loves all people, then why does he let innocent people suffer? is he is all powerful, why doesn't he fix that?

message 273: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Because people want a scapegoat, and don't want to make the world better. They want to pray and feel better about themselves, that they don't really have to do anything.

message 274: by Emma the Dork (new)

Emma the Dork (cheesehead) ok, with the whole answering everything i ask, they arent actually questions! they are just thinking and debating and not actually meant to be answered!

...???? ok,so God doesnt want people tp get along...he wants there to be conflict on the world. that is why he flooded the world so he sould start the world over and so the Earth wouldnt be perfect. he made it where different people speak diiferent languages. and want different things.

message 277: by Lauren (new)

"he wants there to be conflict on the world."

Surely, if he is all-powerful, he could achieve diversity through other, less violent and barbaric means.

message 278: by [deleted user] (new)

yes,but for some reason he chooses not to.

message 279: by Lauren (new)

Maybe he's a mean, vindictive, malevolent person, who deserves no worship in the first place.

message 280: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
Then why is the world not flooding, when 15% of the population and rising are non-theists? When he floods the world again *btw where did he get all that extra water?* and proves he did it, then I'll be convinced. But that won't happen. :)

It may be taking those children to end their misery. I admit, there may be simpler ways to do it, but perhaps the higher being really does have a plan. Atheists are just as bad as theists, thinking of a higher being being limited to human thoughts and conceptions. Maybe murder doesn't seem bad to him. After all, children are born every 8 seconds(in the US alone), we have an overpopulated earth, then a child dying every 4 seconds isn't really that bad. Wait another 4 seconds and there will be another alive. It's working in complex ways.

"Atheists are just as bad as theists, thinking of a higher being being limited to human thoughts and conceptions"

We think of NO higher being.

message 286: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) But the higher being you are describing as the Christian God is limited to human small-mindedness. Can't a god be inhuman? Immortal even? It's impossible for us to imagine a God that isn't limited the same way as humans in thought and ability.

message 287: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (djinni) | 7365 comments Mod
We go with the Yahweh god because that is the version most people believe in.

As for inhuman, the universe seems pretty good at managing by itself. I just see no reason to add a god in the mix.

But how come we aren't drowning?

message 294: by Chandani (new)

Chandani (milkduds920) | 6408 comments god didnt help anyone one bit.

if god wanted humans to stay alive, maybe he would have though out the earth layout a little better. Because even though 73% of the earths surface is water, of the 70% , 97.5% of it is salt water, which only leaves 2.5% for the entire world to consume. If god was so loving toward his creations, why do one in six people do not have access to drinkable water?
Of that 2.5%, 69% is in glaciers and ice caps, which are slowly melting away. 4% is above ground, in lakes and streams, and 31% is in aquifers deep underground.

If god loved us and wanted us to thrive as a people, why is it predicted that in 20 years more than half the world will have no access to clean water?

Does god not love the infants that die from diarreah in Ethiopia?
Theists always talk about "the plan" "the bigger plan". What the hell kind of effed up plan is this????

B) the result of an indifferent universe, with no plan

Riley (booksarecool) You forgot a choice.

C) A plan that kills people that are inferior or lead awful lives, ending their pain and creating room for the rest of the population that's caving in on itself through war and senseless violence that kills a lot more people than natural causes.

Take your pick.

message 300: by The New Maria (new)

The New Maria (emeraldmaria) | 1950 comments Back to the topic... In the bible it says "Don't judge and you won't be judged." Or something like that. So then why does God judge people based on something that they can't even change. Well, change without heaps of money and science...
