"Oh, you said libraies," said Jake, smaking his forehead and feeling quite stupid. "I heard liberties." He shrugged and then smiled. "But I love libraries. They're so peaceful. I could spend my life in one of it weren't for the pesky needs of eating and drinking."

Asmera smiled a little. "Oh, if only we could do away with eating and drinking. It's such a drag," she said sarcastically.

Lark entered the quiet library first, thick dirty blond mane swishing behind her. A devilish grin decorated her face, as the boy behind her couldn't see. She turned back to Moses, the expression morphing into a sweet smile. "Why don't we grab a table over there. I don't really understand the whole concept of optics...." Of course, she knew exactly what optics were, but Moses didn't need to know that.
((I know absolutely NOTHING about physics, so this is all from wikipedia....XD))

Lark sighed, then plastered a smile onto her face, following Moses to the table. "Oh, well, we can unravel it together!" She said cheerily.
Lark suppressed a groan, and sat down with a cheery smile. And now to play the damsel in distress... The smile melted away, replaced by a look of shock. She flipped through her mental contacts, settling on her oldest sibling. Her eyes glazed over and she let a little cry escape from her lips. She could see Abby in English class now.....
((she used her power))
((she used her power))
She slumped down, for dramatic effect, remaining still for a moment.
Lark slumped over onto him. This was not what happened when she looked in on others, but she was going to milk it. She opened her eyes, looking up at Moses. "Oh...." She ran away, stifling a smile, hiding behind a bookcase.
"Please.....I-I didn't..." She said in a scared voice. "I didn't mean to....my powers....."
"Yes...I'm sorry." She whispered. "I've gotta go anyhow, I have power studies next...." She said, then slipping out the door. "Well done, Lark. You've just infiltrated the Hawke family." She said to herself, as soon as she was out of earshot.

Jonathan sat in a corner, reading an old copy of The Prince. Machiavelli was a genius, a type of ruler Jonathan could aspire to being like. But even this kind of peace and relaxation didn't cause Jonathan to unwind. The pressure from all of his scheming was beginning to come down on him. The thing with Lyte was particularly upsetting.

He heard the sigh, choosing to ignore it. He had enough problems of his own without getting anyone else's burdens. He shifted his posture, just a little bit and unconsciously, to prepare for sudden movement. It wasn't necessary, but it was a paranoid little habit he had picked up.

He felt a gaze burning into the back of his neck like a pair of lasers. Obviously whoever it was had some business with him, whatever it was. And yet, he continued to ignore them, instead manifesting a small knife in his left hand under the table.

((Wait, can she snap anything other than bones? I could have sworn she could only use her power on humans and animals.))
((Oops. Sorry. I didn't see that.))
He couldn't stand it anymore. "Whatever you're thinking of doing, do it soon. I can't handle the suspense." His voice was dripping with sarcasm.
((Neck snapping wouldn't be fatal necessarily. Just probably.))

Annaliegh rolled her eyes,"Sure, as long as I win." Her eyes glinted.
That didn't sound good. Screw it, he'd deal with the consequences later. In one fluid motion, he turned and threw the knife at the bookshelf where the voice came from. He let the motion cary him out of his chair, running towards a different shelf for cover.

"What are you on? I'm not a manipulator." That you know of. He growled. She was close, close enough that he could summon a sword in her chest. But unfortunately, the security cameras covered this area. He may have thrown a dagger well enough to make it just look like a graphics glitch, but even Psmith wouldn't be able to save him if he killed someone on camera.

He studied her face, wracking his mind for the dossier that Psmith provided. A smile appeared on his face. "Annaliegh. Can break bones. Friends with Callie. That's what you're here about, aren't you? Your precious friend?" Screw the facade. It didn't matter at this point, especially after what she said live on camera. "Annaliegh, I have a few personal questions to ask you. What is your mother's maiden name? The street you lived on growing up? Your power's weakness? Don't bother with the last one, I know." Psmith deserved a hug the next time they met.

((No offense, Kaylee, but how would she know about Psmith? For that matter, wouldn't she be a bit more shaken? Sorry, but it just seems a little godmoddy to have her be this unflappable.))

((Don't worry 'bout it. Sucks about your grandma.))
"Nah, I'm just a well informed individual." He said, face passive. "And if not about your one friend here at NGA, then what?" He ignored the crack about his relationship with Callie. She was a tool and nothing more. He had others he was more inclined to be in a romantic relationship with.
((He mentioned that stuff to screw up her power, btw.))

"I used her. Yes, she probably has one of the best powers. Quick, and uneasily made out. She knows how to disguise herself and is easily manipulated. For all I know...you screwed her off."
"You were the one to manipulate Callie?" He cocked an eyebrow. "Wow. Congratulations. You are the sloppiest, stupidest, worst manipulators I've ever met. It took me less than ten seconds to realize that she was being manipulated, and only about thirty seconds to manipulate her to my advantage. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to."

A smile broke across his face. "You don't know what I'm doing, I do. The effects lasted plenty long, and remembers exactly what she needs to. But you aren't going to have any more time to continue 'working on it'. And let me explain why." He stepped around, so the camera faced his back. A knife appeared in his hand, pointed at her abdomen.
"I don't care about your power or plans, Annaliegh Jones. Callie doesn't need you. If you approach her, ever again, I will know. And when I do, you won't wake up the next morning. And no one will care or mourn you, because you have done nothing to deserve it. I know you power, and your weakness. And do to those questions, right now I doubt you'll be able to muster up the concentration necessary to snap anything important. So, at the moment, you are just a typical teenage girl with an attitude. And trust me, that isn't enough against someone who is trained to use the weapons that they are armed with. So let me tell you what you are going to do. You are going to turn around, and walk out of this library. You are never going to see or speak to Callie or me again. Understood?" The smile had long since faded. He wasn't frowning, and his posture looked apathetic, other than the knife at her abdomen. But his eyes burned with a nigh outer-worldly hatred.
((If I may. OWNED))

Annaliegh was out of words, she didn't know what to say. Well..maybe she did have a few words. Actually, she didn't know, she was absolutely terrified. Annaliegh turned to leave and started walking, but she looked over her shoulder before she disappeared,"You ought to double check your feelings for Callie. She paused,"From what I've seen and heard, she's a little more to you than you acknowledge." With that, she turned, and started to walk out the doorway.
