₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Asmera squinted at him in confusion. All his years? He was, what, maybe two years older than her? She nawed on her lip. "If it's some crazy pain killer, I doubt it will work. Trust me, I've tried some messed up stuff for these things."

message 202: by Hope (new)

Hope "It's not a pain killer," Jake laughed, marking his place in the ook and setting it aside, "more of a meditation technique. Sit back in your chir, cross you legs and close your eyes. Then, make small circle around your temples with your index and middle finger. Breathe through your nose and out through your mouth. Deeply. Trust me, it works."

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Asmera gave him a doubtful look, but set down her computer none-the-less. Sitting in the chair she had just occupied, she did as the boy instructed. Placing the tips of her fingers on the sides of her head, she closed her eyes and traced tiny circles against her skin. She then reverted to the breathing she used while swimming, taking deep, calm breaths. Asmera never thought it would work... which was why she was so stunned when it did.

message 204: by Hope (last edited Nov 14, 2011 07:03PM) (new)

Hope "Is that better?" Jake questioned, noting the small smile of relief and surprise that now decorated Asmera's features. "You certainly look more relaxed."

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "I guess you were right," she had to admit. She studied the boy before her. "I don't know you, do I?" she said, realizing she had never seen him before.

message 206: by Hope (new)

Hope "Probably not," siad Jake, rising and offering the stranger his hand. "I tend to keep to myself and hide from society in the strangest of places here. I'm Jake."

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ She carefully shook his hand. "Asmera Kaen," she said. "And if you count libraries as strange places, I could take offense to that."

message 208: by Hope (new)

Hope "Really?" He raised his eyebrows, curioous. "How so?"

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ "I used to go to the library every day back home. Right after what ever practice I was coming from. It was kind of a home away from home," Asmera said with a small shrug.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ ((i've gotta run. pick up tomorrow?))

message 211: by Hope (new)

Hope ((Sorry for my absence!))

"Oh, you said libraies," said Jake, smaking his forehead and feeling quite stupid. "I heard liberties." He shrugged and then smiled. "But I love libraries. They're so peaceful. I could spend my life in one of it weren't for the pesky needs of eating and drinking."

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ ((no problem))

Asmera smiled a little. "Oh, if only we could do away with eating and drinking. It's such a drag," she said sarcastically.

message 213: by Hope (new)

Hope "It is," Jake agreed, rather sincerely. He'd often found that the needs for food and drink distracted him from other more interesting things he could be doing, like studying languages. It was one of his favorite passtimes.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ Suddenly, Asmera felt a soft tapping on her leg. She looked down and her fingers seemed to be twitching. She realized she must be doing the chello fingerings. "Whoops," she said quietly to herself, closing her other hand around the wild fingers.

₪Daughter of the Rain and Snow₪ ((gotta run, should be back later))

Lark entered the quiet library first, thick dirty blond mane swishing behind her. A devilish grin decorated her face, as the boy behind her couldn't see. She turned back to Moses, the expression morphing into a sweet smile. "Why don't we grab a table over there. I don't really understand the whole concept of optics...." Of course, she knew exactly what optics were, but Moses didn't need to know that.

((I know absolutely NOTHING about physics, so this is all from wikipedia....XD))

message 217: by [deleted user] (new)

Lark sighed, then plastered a smile onto her face, following Moses to the table. "Oh, well, we can unravel it together!" She said cheerily.

message 218: by [deleted user] (last edited Dec 02, 2011 05:17PM) (new)

Lark suppressed a groan, and sat down with a cheery smile. And now to play the damsel in distress... The smile melted away, replaced by a look of shock. She flipped through her mental contacts, settling on her oldest sibling. Her eyes glazed over and she let a little cry escape from her lips. She could see Abby in English class now.....

((she used her power))

message 219: by [deleted user] (new)

She slumped down, for dramatic effect, remaining still for a moment.

message 220: by [deleted user] (new)

Lark slumped over onto him. This was not what happened when she looked in on others, but she was going to milk it. She opened her eyes, looking up at Moses. "Oh...." She ran away, stifling a smile, hiding behind a bookcase.

message 221: by [deleted user] (new)

"Please.....I-I didn't..." She said in a scared voice. "I didn't mean to....my powers....."

message 222: by [deleted user] (new)

"Yes...I'm sorry." She whispered. "I've gotta go anyhow, I have power studies next...." She said, then slipping out the door. "Well done, Lark. You've just infiltrated the Hawke family." She said to herself, as soon as she was out of earshot.

((fade?))

Jonathan sat in a corner, reading an old copy of The Prince. Machiavelli was a genius, a type of ruler Jonathan could aspire to being like. But even this kind of peace and relaxation didn't cause Jonathan to unwind. The pressure from all of his scheming was beginning to come down on him. The thing with Lyte was particularly upsetting.

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments Annaliegh sighed angrily. What was wrong with her?! At least, she couldn't tell. She noticed a blonde kid out of the corner of her eye. Joey? Jamal? Jonathan? Yes...It was Jonathan, the one Callie often talked about. And she really wanted to squash his brains out.

He heard the sigh, choosing to ignore it. He had enough problems of his own without getting anyone else's burdens. He shifted his posture, just a little bit and unconsciously, to prepare for sudden movement. It wasn't necessary, but it was a paranoid little habit he had picked up.

message 226: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments She glared at him, oh he had nerve. Screwing upher little project. She could barely get into Callie's head now. She was locked on him like...bees and honey. She stepped out of the shadows of the bookshelves and leaned against the book case.

He felt a gaze burning into the back of his neck like a pair of lasers. Obviously whoever it was had some business with him, whatever it was. And yet, he continued to ignore them, instead manifesting a small knife in his left hand under the table.

message 228: by Kaylee~ (last edited Dec 05, 2011 07:23PM) (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments Annaliegh continued to glare at his back. It would do her good to maybe break an arm or a leg...Or a fatal blow to the neck would do as well. She smirked a little, then what would dear little Callie do?

((Oops. Sorry. I didn't see that.))

He couldn't stand it anymore. "Whatever you're thinking of doing, do it soon. I can't handle the suspense." His voice was dripping with sarcasm.

((Neck snapping wouldn't be fatal necessarily. Just probably.))

message 236: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments ((XD well......... it depends. ANd don't worry! Your good!))

Annaliegh rolled her eyes,"Sure, as long as I win." Her eyes glinted.

That didn't sound good. Screw it, he'd deal with the consequences later. In one fluid motion, he turned and threw the knife at the bookshelf where the voice came from. He let the motion cary him out of his chair, running towards a different shelf for cover.

message 238: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments Annaliegh dodged it easily. Well, it was kind of close. "Scared are we?" she teased. "A person who can manipulate as well as you do...I wouldn't believe to be scared." She smiled and moved around the the bookshelf easily.

message 239: by Rudy, I am told my voice looks green (new)

Rudy | 2113 comments Mod
"What are you on? I'm not a manipulator." That you know of. He growled. She was close, close enough that he could summon a sword in her chest. But unfortunately, the security cameras covered this area. He may have thrown a dagger well enough to make it just look like a graphics glitch, but even Psmith wouldn't be able to save him if he killed someone on camera.

message 240: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments Annaliegh laughed,"Yah you are. I know so. I've heard of you Jonathan, even though you may have not heard of me." She held an edge on her voice, mainly to show him that she was really pissed off. She leaned against the bookshelves again.

message 241: by Rudy, I am told my voice looks green (new)

Rudy | 2113 comments Mod
He studied her face, wracking his mind for the dossier that Psmith provided. A smile appeared on his face. "Annaliegh. Can break bones. Friends with Callie. That's what you're here about, aren't you? Your precious friend?" Screw the facade. It didn't matter at this point, especially after what she said live on camera. "Annaliegh, I have a few personal questions to ask you. What is your mother's maiden name? The street you lived on growing up? Your power's weakness? Don't bother with the last one, I know." Psmith deserved a hug the next time they met.

message 242: by Kaylee~ (last edited Dec 05, 2011 07:55PM) (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments She laughed,"Let me guess. Callie told you a few things, correct?. And I am not here for my "friend" so you call her." Analiegh paused,"She's more of a friend to you than me? In my opinion a little more than that." She gave him a look. Even though she didn't show it, Annaliegh was a little scared. If Callie's information was right, he could impale her if he wanted to.

message 243: by Rudy, I am told my voice looks green (new)

Rudy | 2113 comments Mod
((No offense, Kaylee, but how would she know about Psmith? For that matter, wouldn't she be a bit more shaken? Sorry, but it just seems a little godmoddy to have her be this unflappable.))

((Don't worry 'bout it. Sucks about your grandma.))

"Nah, I'm just a well informed individual." He said, face passive. "And if not about your one friend here at NGA, then what?" He ignored the crack about his relationship with Callie. She was a tool and nothing more. He had others he was more inclined to be in a romantic relationship with.

((He mentioned that stuff to screw up her power, btw.))

message 246: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments ((Ohhhhhhhhhhh.........duh....))

"I used her. Yes, she probably has one of the best powers. Quick, and uneasily made out. She knows how to disguise herself and is easily manipulated. For all I know...you screwed her off."

message 247: by Rudy, I am told my voice looks green (new)

Rudy | 2113 comments Mod
"You were the one to manipulate Callie?" He cocked an eyebrow. "Wow. Congratulations. You are the sloppiest, stupidest, worst manipulators I've ever met. It took me less than ten seconds to realize that she was being manipulated, and only about thirty seconds to manipulate her to my advantage. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been able to."

message 248: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments "I'm working on it!" she said defensively. That was not like her at all. "Fortanetly, the effects lasted longer on mine than it did for you. Callie is utterly confused and doesn't have a clue what she's doing. I'm surprised that you haven't checked in on her at all. It's almost like she's crazy. She barely remembers anything! Well..I mean..educationally wise." Annaliegh paused thoughtfully.

message 249: by Rudy, I am told my voice looks green (new)

Rudy | 2113 comments Mod
A smile broke across his face. "You don't know what I'm doing, I do. The effects lasted plenty long, and remembers exactly what she needs to. But you aren't going to have any more time to continue 'working on it'. And let me explain why." He stepped around, so the camera faced his back. A knife appeared in his hand, pointed at her abdomen.

"I don't care about your power or plans, Annaliegh Jones. Callie doesn't need you. If you approach her, ever again, I will know. And when I do, you won't wake up the next morning. And no one will care or mourn you, because you have done nothing to deserve it. I know you power, and your weakness. And do to those questions, right now I doubt you'll be able to muster up the concentration necessary to snap anything important. So, at the moment, you are just a typical teenage girl with an attitude. And trust me, that isn't enough against someone who is trained to use the weapons that they are armed with. So let me tell you what you are going to do. You are going to turn around, and walk out of this library. You are never going to see or speak to Callie or me again. Understood?" The smile had long since faded. He wasn't frowning, and his posture looked apathetic, other than the knife at her abdomen. But his eyes burned with a nigh outer-worldly hatred.

((If I may. OWNED))

message 250: by Kaylee~ (new)

Kaylee~ (sincerelyu) | 2466 comments ((DUDE! I just got burned lol. That's the second thing that made my day. I'm freaking rolling on the floor.))

Annaliegh was out of words, she didn't know what to say. Well..maybe she did have a few words. Actually, she didn't know, she was absolutely terrified. Annaliegh turned to leave and started walking, but she looked over her shoulder before she disappeared,"You ought to double check your feelings for Callie. She paused,"From what I've seen and heard, she's a little more to you than you acknowledge." With that, she turned, and started to walk out the doorway.

((and...............fade?))
