((Sure. I'll use my new guy. Lets take this discussion to Self-chat.))

((Actually, you're welcome to pop in here. Benedict just got smacked down in a serious way, and must continue his quest to discover the true location of math class.))

He almost smiled, shocked as he was by her general unfriendliness. Two could play at this game, however. "Yes," he said, simply.

message 54: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments ((Ah, sorry))

Rinette moved her fingers apart to glance at him between them. "What a beautiful answer," she said with another sigh.

((Don't be sorry- it's hysterical.))

"Agreed," he said, now smiling broadly. "I'll figure it out somehow or another- won't keep you any longer." He found himself recording her facial features for later use in art- such striking violet-silver eyes! "Unless you want to bandy about more monosyllables."

message 56: by Zakari (last edited Oct 01, 2011 04:07PM) (new)

Zakari | 189 comments ((Lol, ikr?))

Rinette nodded, pulling her hand off her face. "Do you know any really good ones to use when people try to converse with you? I don't know any good ones to fend them off."

"A random noise usually works- though it gets you labelled as insane. Or say something about how badly you need to go to the bathroom. Only single words I can think of are curses. 'Indeed' just leads them on." He shrugged. "Doesn't always work, if the person's determined enough. Experience. You?"

message 58: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette tapped a finger against her chin. She shrugged back. "Those aren't things I would say."

message 59: by Pippin, Doo doo, doo doo doo. (new)

Pippin (pippin-plover) | 375 comments Mod
"I wouldn't either- I'm non-confrontational. Unless cornered, I run," he confessed. "Or just stand there and nod politely. You're new too, then?" Benedict took a quick glance around the library, still not seeing any signs of an impending math class.

message 60: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette shrugged. "Yeah. And why would math be in the library? Wouldn't it be... you know... in the math room?"

message 61: by Pippin, Doo doo, doo doo doo. (new)

Pippin (pippin-plover) | 375 comments Mod
"I dunno. Someone said there weren't really classrooms- for the usual subjects, I mean. They're either in here or the study room. Classrooms are for the... special subjects." Benedict raised an eyebrow expressively.

message 62: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette nodded. "I see. Well, I don't know where any of my classes are..." She reached into her bag and pulled a paper out. "Oh look. Schedule. What's next? Oh."

message 63: by Pippin, Doo doo, doo doo doo. (new)

Pippin (pippin-plover) | 375 comments Mod
"Oh?" he asked, face neutral. Could it be what I think it is?

message 64: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette's face fell. "Math. You've got to be kidding."

message 65: by Pippin, Doo doo, doo doo doo. (new)

Pippin (pippin-plover) | 375 comments Mod
"In here? Or does it say?" Once more, he was trying desperately not to smile- no use gloating and creating an enemy of someone originally determined to avoid him.

message 66: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette shrugged. "It doesn't say anywhere. I was hoping I could spend it not doing anything..."

message 67: by Pippin, Doo doo, doo doo doo. (new)

Pippin (pippin-plover) | 375 comments Mod
"Psh, go on ahead. They're probably lenient on the first day anyway- and you can claim to not know where to go. As for me, I think I'll explore a bit, and hope I don't blunder into the math class by mistake." Benedict smiled, taking a step backwards.

message 68: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Rinette raised her eyebrows and nodded at the same time. "What a good idea." She took a step backwards herself.

message 69: by Hope (new)

Hope The library doors slid open without a sound, and in walked Ruby Hill, the personification of cool, calm, and collected. She walked to the back of the room and sat down in a corner, making sure she was parly obscured in shadow. A small pale hand reached behind her, pulling a small leather-bound book out of a good-sized niche in the wall. She didn't know why she hadn't noticed the little crvice before, the place in the back of the huge book-filled room, the perfect size and shape to hide her recipe book if need be. A small smile lit her face as she slid the little book open, scanning the first page, the one with Nightshade's Hand written in large, neat letters across the top.

message 70: by Hope (last edited Oct 01, 2011 07:27PM) (new)

Hope Pale hands automatically snapped the book closed at the sudden noise, while dark eyes scanned the immediate area. The boy soon came into her line of sight, and she skewered him with a sharp brown glare.

"Hello. May I help you?" The words that should have been warm came out coated in ice, the lips forming them set in a frown of disapproval.

message 71: by Hope (last edited Oct 01, 2011 07:32PM) (new)

Hope "Mmmm." Ruby set her own book down, standing up slowly, stretching her legs out a bit. "What have you got?" She took a few steps foward and squinted, peering at the book's title. Curse my horrible eyesight, she thought, annoyed.

message 72: by Hope (new)

Hope "Good choice," said Ruby, her lips curving up into a smile. "I love that book." She bent down to pick up her own small volume, feeling a tad better now that she knew the boy wasn't directly interested in her or her book.

((So much for interesting. :P))

message 73: by Hope (new)

Hope She had spoken too soon. Eyes flickered from the book to Tyson and back again, hands placing the small journal on the table nearby. Ruby cleared her throat. "A recipe book," she said. She twirled a stand of tawny hair around her index finger, a habit of hers. One that only appeared when she was nevous or uncomfortable.

message 74: by Hope (last edited Oct 01, 2011 07:58PM) (new)

Hope "Mmm-hmmm." Ruby nodded in assent. "It's not much, but it...suits my purposes." That strand of hair never stopped twirling. Wind up, wind down. A pattern, one repeated over and over. She again fixed the boy with her gaze, watching him carefully, almost curiously. What was he thinking?

message 75: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah tip-toed into the library, hoping for some good reads.

((Haha, good reads....))

message 76: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) ((Lol))

Michael leaned closer to the screen of the computer monitor, occasionally moving the mouse in clicking furiously.

message 77: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments ((Punny. XD))

Aaliyah slowed down as she passed a boy on the computer. She raised an eyebrow in curiosity.

message 78: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) ((Yep))

Michael's face was scrunched in concentration as he shot at virtual spaceships.

message 79: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah smiled. She had liked to play games as well. "Mind if I sit here?" she whispered as she stepped up to the chair next to Michael.

message 80: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) He briefly glanced up and at that moment an enemy spaceship blew up his fort. Michael turned back to the screen and groaned slightly. "Dang," he muttered.

message 81: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments A hand flew up to Aaliyah's mouth. "I'm so sorry!" She hated it when people broke her concentration.

message 82: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) Michael turned to the girl. "Oh, it's all right. I'm bad at it anyways."

message 83: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah winced as she lowered her hand. "All the same, I made you worse, didn't I? But really, do you mind if I take this seat?"

message 84: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) "Oh, no. Go ahead. I don't mind, wasn't really doing anything important as you saw," Michael said with a gesture.

message 85: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah nodded. "No worries, I'll only go on for the same purpose." She sat down and turned her computer on, but shrank when it made the, DONNNN! starting-up noise really loudly.

message 86: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) Michael winced slightly and glanced around. No one looked their way, so he relaxed. "Don't you hate that?" he asked in a whisper.

message 87: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments With a nod, Aaliyah whispered back, "Definitely!" She quickly logged on and opened Firefox.

message 88: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) "I'm Michael, by the way," he whispered as he began a new game.

message 89: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments "Aaliyah," she whispered in response as she opened up a browser game of !FISHY!.

message 90: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) He nodded. "Neat name."

message 91: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments "Thanks." Aaliyah began the wonderful game, already in heaven. The heaven of time-wasting.

message 92: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) There was a companionable silence as the two of them played their games. "So, um, you skipping class? Or is this your period off?" Michael asked conversationally.

message 93: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah shrugged, her eyes glued to the screen. "I actually have no idea. I'm really new, and I don't know where anything is. Or if school has actually started or not."

message 94: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) "Oh, I'm new here too. I guess we'll find out later." Michael smiled briefly over to her.

message 95: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments She nodded. "I hope so. My mom won't be too happy if I start to fail."

message 96: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) "I don't think my mom would even notice," he muttered in a sad, bitter voice.

message 97: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments Aaliyah looked a little downcast as her game ended and she turned to look at Michael. "Oh. I'm... I'm really sorry. If it helps anything, my father wouldn't care about me at all."

message 98: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) Michael gave a crooked smile. "Oh, it's fine. I should get used to it. I'm sorry about your dad, though."

message 99: by Zakari (new)

Zakari | 189 comments She looked away with her hair covering her face, her tone darkening a little. "You shouldn't be."

message 100: by Ji Mei (new)

Ji Mei (jimei) Michael looked down and didn't say anything, feeling horrible for even bringing up the subject.
