I just loved this film bu finnish director aki kaurismaki. i like dark comedies but this, along with the social message of being linked to your work forever and get a crappy salary it's quite effective. I fell for the protagonist. great actor. fun film.

i have to check out that kaurimaki box from eclipse, among other things ... i don't know this filmmaker very well.

its a very good director. when i watched this trilogy i remembered some of chabrol's feeling and some godard maybe. the atmosfere it's very obscure but the characters and situations are very light. very contrasting elements.

I watched the Criterion set. Very droll humor, some great moments in there. I think I posted about these films a while back, but I don't know for certain.

I watched HE WHO GETS SLAPPED today. What a great overlooked film from the silent era. Chaney was so much more than a horror show. A rich, soulful performance. Can't believe it's only been released on made-to-order-DVD from Warner Archives. Thanks to Tom and Philip for the recommendation.
