There is a "tag my book on Amazon" fb page if anyone is interested. I'm not sure about giving "likes" to books I haven't read, though some of them look great, but agreeing with the tags the author already set up, or adding one or two based on descriptions, only helps the author have better tags and be more easily found by searchers. You aren't manipulating anything except people's likelihood of finding a book they might be searching for anyway.

Did you read the person's work? How do you know it is not full of spelling errors, cliched plot points, and cardboard characters?
Looking at a friend's photo on a social networking site and blindly rating their literary offering that they are trying to sell are two different things.

I definitely agree that "liking" a book without reading it is not a good idea. Many authors will give a review copy to sincere people who will read and give an honest appraisal or critique if warranted. That's the best way to help people, by sharing real knowledge about a book.
