How was Shiver? I read a lot of bad reviews on it, so I wasn't sure whether to try it or not. :/

Well... I liked the story and I was really touched at the end but I only gave it 3 stars because I thought it was kinda slow and too much lovey dovey crap.

Uh! I saw one of those Vladimir Tod books in a store once!

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I finished Stolen Away by Alyxandra Harvey and it was really good! Now I'm reading Howl's Moving Castle (Castle, #1) by Diana Wynne Jones Yay! ;D

Ann (obsessedwjpn) I just finished Nightshade (Nightshade, #1) by Andrea Cremer and I am going to start reading Fitzwilliam Darcy, Rock Star by Heather Lynn Rigaud - it's a modernized version of Pride and Prejudice that deals with sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. Woot!

The ending is HORRIBLE! If i had the book with me, I would throw it on the ground, stomp on it, spit on it, then set it on fire. I'm not joking, that's how much I hated it. But let us know what you think after you finish it...

message 365: by Elena (new)

Elena (summerday) | 18 comments I wasn't sure whether to read the Nightshade series or not, since I'm not really into werewolves.
But from the looks of it, I shouldn't?

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) The story in general is really good and I enjoyed reading it but the end... god... WHY!

Subz221 | 1066 comments Mod
Nightshade was AMAZING, Wolfsbane was awesome in the beginning then meh, Bloodrose was just disappointing. But the series is worth reading.

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I just feel so sad about the bloodrose ending like (view spoiler)

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Uh-huh!

Elena (summerday) | 18 comments I see. (:

Anyway, I am reading Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and honestly it's kind of boring.
The plot is fine and I like the characters, but it's just dragging on and on.
I've only gone through half the book so maybe the ending will pay for all the boredom I had to endure, but so far it's not as much as I thought it would be. :(

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) I felt the same over Shiver...

message 373: by Elena (last edited Jan 25, 2012 05:42AM) (new)

Elena (summerday) | 18 comments I hate books like that, that bore you to death throughout three quarters of it, but then the ending is good.
Because then you think, "well, but eventually I liked the book.." and you feel guilty for not giving it a higher rate. :/

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Exactly!

message 375: by A.M. (new)

A.M. Hargrove (amhargrove1) | 6 comments Has anyone read 50 Shades of Grey? OMG...it is NOT YA, but I couldnt put it down. It's sort of edgy and more erotica than even romance and I was surprised how much I liked it because it's NOT even paranormal. but yikes, it's a good read and the 1st of a trilogy. Very well written too

message 376: by Elena (new)

Elena (summerday) | 18 comments What a coincidence. I just read the synopsis of that book :o I was trying to decide whether to give it a try or not..

message 377: by A.M. (new)

A.M. Hargrove (amhargrove1) | 6 comments It's extremely well written and I loved the plot line. It's pretty graphic and has elements of BDSM (Not hardcore on that though--it's part of the male MC's background). It was recommended to me and I was hesitant to read it but from page 1, I was hooked. If you like erotica but with a great story, you'll like this. If you do read it, let me know what you think.

message 378: by Elena (new)

Elena (summerday) | 18 comments Well then I guess I'll try it. It sounded good from the synopsis, anyway.
Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know. (:

It's different than Shiver ... There are a lot more POV's which makes the book more interesting :)
I'm still in the first half of the book, but I like it so far :)

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Vaughn?
Cecily-Linden thing?

:p

message 389: by Subz221, Back Away From My Book Boyfriends (new)

Subz221 | 1066 comments Mod
Oh yeah, that was kinda disturbing. Cecily was only what? Thirteen?

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) Yeah

message 391: by Mallory (new)

Mallory (malbookreviewer) Yup those are the reasons.

Jennifer (ivashkovlover) Subz221 wrote: "I don't hate him, I get why he has to do it, but still... Ewww..."

I hated him. Yes he was dumb and naive but still...like really you don't think buying girls is wrong?! You never once thought to ask them if they were happy there or if they want to leave then they can? No! SO he is evil to me! And really impregnating a 13 year old? Why wouldn't he buy all girls at least 16.

message 396: by Subz221, Back Away From My Book Boyfriends (new)

Subz221 | 1066 comments Mod
You have a point, but I still can't hate Linden. Atleast he didn't treat them cruelly. If anything, he tried to make them as comfortable as they could be, in contrast to some of the other men the girls could've been sold to. As a character in a book, I have nothing against him. If this stuff was actually happening, I would definitely be opposed to it.

message 397: by Wana (new)

Wana (wandalla) Now I'm reading
The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins Keys to the Repository (A Blue Blood Companion Book) by Melissa de la Cruz In Ghostly Japan by Lafcadio Hearn

Stephanie (Bookfever) (bookfever) He thought the girls actually wanted to be a bride, so he didn't really buy them. And in that world a 13 year old being pregnant is normal. But still it's yicky! Poor Cecily even though she was annoying.

message 399: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (ivashkovlover) Yeah I felt bad for Cecily cause she didn't know any better. But she was also the only one that was semi happy and actually wanted to be married and taken care of. But I would have felt better if it was with another 13=16 year old. Linden was like 21. yucky. I just didn't really like the book. The whole thing grossed me out. I loved the show Big Love and all but it's just different when it is underage girls with no real choice.

message 400: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (ivashkovlover) I'm reading The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith right now and it is super sweet.
