Carole (casutton) | 223 comments Hi Kait,
I voted 'yes' on all four, I did not notice if the first one changed its figures, but the others didn't. I waited for a while, looked down the list then went back to 'refresh' and the figures had not changed. I tried hitting vote yes again, and the usual thanks came up -- but as far as I can see, only two of them changed their voting figures.

Hi Christine! you are correct that people can
Google your name. I tried my mine name for fun a few weeks ago. Was I ever surprised! WOW! Apparently every time I add to a discussion on goodreads.com or when I blog, everything I write can be googled. Things may come up under the title, The Secrets of the Unwritten Book or under Malika Bourne. I also found that my last name is in a very good spot as it Googles with 'Bourne Identity', the movie.

About every day I check out what ever I can think to google regarding the book. The title, my name, even sentences quoted from the book. They all link back to the title or my name which appears with the title or even preview pages.I click on as many as I can find because it is my understanding that activity on the search engines raises the priorty where it pulls up on the pages. Can anyone give me any concrete knowledge of this?

When I clicked on the site written in Japanese, of all places, someone taged it under 'hysterectomy' and 'onocology'. That came from a chapter about a character's question why she felt 'God had abandoned her'.I never thought of those words to tag. Malika Bourne

Hi Todd, (you have a marvelous following)
I am sorry, I don't do much tagging, I tried it once and gave it up for lack of time. I do follow you on Linkedin and it is nice to see you there too.

Writing for some is a means of support, (not many make it, nor should they expect it) for some writing is a leisure activity and others like me, it is a passion with a reasonable expectation that part of my being will be immortal.
I enjoy hitting the blogs, returning comments and sharing from my storehouse of experience. The link here is one of my leisure writing activities in which I have many articles for which I have earned $2.90 over the past three years. But, having admitted that, I don't do it for money, but for recognition. http://gomestic.com/gardening/compost...
I get more sales from this type writing than from tagging or anything else I do, some of your fans here might want to try it. I might offer a word of caution. Don't flagrantly advertise your work. subtly and gently put some information in your article that will let the readers find your books. You won't get an article published if you say, "Buy my book on Amazon" or some such. You can however, as I have done, write an article on how to write a book or article and refer to your Amazon page with a link. Also your profile can be linked to your home page, email or Amazon adv if done properly, It is just an idea from which some of your fans might benefit. thanks Dr Robert E McGinnis

Great suggestion. Whether through tagging communities, writing articles, blogging, etc. it is about connecting with others and relationship building. We first are really marketing ourselves just by being who we are; the books follow eh!

You are amazing in the amount of work you put in to all these discussions and your site. thanks.
Spain was great as usual. Did Pamplona, running with the bulls, got pictures and enough material for another book. Following in the Hemingway tradition the place is lousy with writers. ALso have a daughter living in Lineras.

message 1742: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Hey Everyone! I have been reading a book about "web 3.0" marketing (geesh and i've been working hard at still understanding web 2.0!); it talks about microblogging (twitter), mobile blogging (targeting mobile users through apps, text messages, etc.) and also info about 3D/virtual worlds. Interesting, companies like IBM, Dell, etc. hold virtual meetings on these 3D sites for training, product showcases, etc. Some bands even perform virtual concerts (their real music but with 3D avatars) - I'm not kidding.

So always looking for a new way to find opportunities, I decided to spend a little time in an online 3d Virtual Reality world called second life.
http://secondlife.com/

So, I'm pretty tech savvy, but holy hannah. You set up your avatar, and basically walk around a virtual world along with a bunch of other people from around the world. There are cafes, book readings, you name it (so strange).

So after sinking a good two hours tonight, the cool factor was high but it felt like going to a mall full of people i didn't know and trying to mingle and/or eavesdrop on conversations - again so strange.

There may be something to this - but I haven't figured it out yet.

If anyone else has experience with this let me know - I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts...

I'll be sure to start tagging!

message 1745: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Crimmel (jeffreyrcrimmelcom) | 43 comments S.L. Go to your Amazon site and copy your web address. come back to this site and asked to be tagged and paste the site below your message in the comment box. Then people can click directly to your site and tag you. Example here is my site. Click on it and tag the ones on the paperback except fantasy. (someone else put that there and cannot get rid of it.) I also have a hardcover site to tag. click on hardcover but none of the tags that have to do with animals. Another clown put those in.
http://www.amazon.com/Living-Beneath-...

Thanks. Also go to TAG MY Book site on Goodreads and follow instructions. Tag others and ask them to tag you and past your site with your request.
