message 1612: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Hi Tom!
Go to the "Tag You're It" page:
http://tagmybookonamazon.wordpress.co...

Then you need to tag each author's books that is listed there and in the archives.

To do that, each book lists their requested tags. I usually highlight the tags (click and drag) then copy them (ctrl c). I click on the picture of the book which opens it's Amazon webpage (hopefully you are already signed in to your Amazon account).

Then, go to the "tags" section of the webpage and paste (ctrl v)the tags in the box to enter tags.

Repeat for each book on the list and you are in good shape!

I usually update the blog once or twice a month and when your book is added, everyone else will tag your book like you tagged theirs - then your tag counts increase.

That's it.

Good luck!

Reed (reedcritchfieldyahoocom) | 15 comments Honestly, I don't get this whole tagging business. I have went in and tagged all the May books listed on "Tag, you're it". But, I have no idea what happens from there. I've tried to start tagging the archived list but can't seem to get it to roll through the queue. It can't be that difficult but it's so frustrating and I never get tagged back because I can't get from the tagging phase to notification and request for tags. And now, having reread this post, I realize I'm just whining. And, that is why I seldom post! LOL

Jeffrey Crimmel (jeffreyrcrimmelcom) | 43 comments ok where did you go to tag books for may? What did you do when you tagged a book. How do you know when your book has been tagged? These are serious life questions and I need answers.

message 1638: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments The current months books (in this case May) are always highlighted/featured on the "Tag You're It" page:
http://tagmybookonamazon.wordpress.co...

This is where tagging should start and the archived months are linked at the bottom of this page.

You know when your book is tagged when you see it's tag count increase on it's amazon page.

Good luck all!

message 1639: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Crimmel (jeffreyrcrimmelcom) | 43 comments I still not know what to do when I tag a book. I went to a sight and saw a lot of links to web pages but where do you tag on a web page or do you look up your book on Amazon and tag there?

message 1640: by Alan (new)

Alan (coachmt) | 20 comments On the Amazon page. Scroll down a bit and you should see a list of words/phrases with check boxes next to them. Those are the tags.

message 1641: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Hey Jeffrey - the way to go to the books amazon page is to click on the image of the book itself - it will automatically open its amazon page (for tags to work you need to have already logged onto your Amazon account).
The way this goes fastest for me is to first highlight the tags for a particular book (click and drag mouse over requested tags) then copy them (ctrl+c) right click on the books image then open in new tab (I use firefox but IE will work as well). Go to the new tab which has opened amazon at the books page and scroll down to the tags section. In the box where you can type in the tags, just hit ctrl+v to paste the tags you copied from the blog and enter and viola - you've done it.
Go back to the blog on the first tab, scroll to the next book and repeat the process.
Good luck!

message 1644: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Hey authors - one of the reasons i started the tagging site was to get authors as much exposure as possible - this helps to create a brand and the more people see you and your work, the more your brand builds and folks are more likely to buy - its all about marketing!

Not all marketing is created equal, some work some don't - frankly it is hard to know but exposure is always good even if it doesn't immediately translate into a sale.

Saw a great deal from one of the authors on good reads that also does promo work for authors. Only $25 dollars - worth looking at but I don't think it lasts too much longer.

Check it out here:

http://joconquerobstacles.com/2010/05...

I haven't used it myself, but others report good outcomes.

Good luck!
