5-Star Review from Brian Knight of Premium Promotional Services:

“Kissing Frogs in Cyberspace” is more then an entertaining read it is an experience not to be missed. You will find yourself laughing, shaking your head in disbelief and rooting for Dianne to find her man. If you love humor, honesty, perseverance and a well written memoir I highly recommend “Kissing Frogs in Cyberspace.”

Jo-Anne Vandermeulen (ppromotionals) | 69 comments Well...just thinking that there's a lot more ways to hit #1 on Amazon...and promoting each other is a HUGE tactic (if that's the right word?? It's late...lol).

Viral Promotion (spreading the word) is very powerful.

>supporting fellow writers comes naturally<

C.S. Winchester (CSWinchester) | 39 comments Hi Guys,

This is my first post here, so sorry if this is old information to you.

Re the Twitter article above. There are 2 good tools to help you see if Twitter is at least spreading the word for you.

1) Put all links through http://bit.ly/ Not only does it shorten the link for you, it keeps track of where the clicks are coming from. If you post for example "Buy here - The bit.ly URL" then you'll see just how many people clicked through to at least look at your book. If you also post the link elsewhere, say facebook, then it will have exact numbers for how many have come from which site.

2) http://twitoaster.com/ If you sign your twitter account up with them, they'll tell you how many people replied to a given tweet and/or retweeted it.

My main problem with twitter is I have hardly any followers :( Does anyone have any tips for that?

Another tip I bring from my business days is databases! Run a competition for your book where in order to enter, people must sign up to your mailing list. You then have a database of interested people you can go out to with info on new books, special offers, promotional codes etc etc

These people http://www.aardvarkmailinglist.net offer you a database of up to 500 email addresses for free. If you're willing to pay for a database then try constant contact (who I use for my business database). They also have some very nifty, customisable email templates so your emails look good.

Sorry if any of that is old news, I haven't had a chance to read everything yet. (does the twitter stuff need it's own post?)

Since this is the tag post, if you feel like tagging me my book is here http://www.amazon.com/PaST-DUE-vampir...

If you feel like friending me on Twitter I'm here http://twitter.com/CatChester_ (just tweet me please, so I know you're not some porn bot and can friend you back)

Nancy Carty Lepri (nancycl) | 17 comments Do you all find that Twitter is the way to go to get your news out??? I'm not on it because I'm on Facebook, MySpace, LiveJournal, Goodreads, Blogspot, my own web page and I just don't have time for all this promotion with these other sites. If you all think this is a better way to go, please let me know and I'll have to check it out and maybe drop some of my other sites! Ugh! I think it's more work trying to promote and market than write the book itself! LOL

Happy Easter to you all...

Nancy, I just linked twitter to all my social networking sites so it does the tweets for me. Though i do not have statistics for how many books I have sold due to tweeting, I do know that such has broadened my audience for the Blog I have dedicated to the novel. As a self-published author, I try to use any means necessary to promote my book.

Hope this helps.

I've actually made valuable contacts (plus cool new friends) on MySpace, Facebook & Twitter. These include readers, reviewers & some commercial opportunities. I've also learned a lot of helpful things by networking on these sites. I value them all very much.

K.G. Cummings (kgcummings) | 143 comments my internet presence was greatly expanded when I joined the social network scene. linking Twitter to other sites saved much typing and retyping the same thing over and over. it's easy to get caught up in the monkey business of it all, but if you keep it in perspective, it is great exposure. I've been contracted to write biographies for two women I would have no knowledge of had it not been for a chance meeting on MySpace five years ago. for what it's worth, go for it, but limit your time spent.

Good mention - I also have all of my profiles linked up (in various ways), which saves a HUGE amount of time. However, I will admit to being overwhelmed with the number of messages I get. I'm trying to catch up, but wow, it's a lot of work! A labor of love tho... :)

Patricia Della-Piana (patdellapiana) I've stayed away from posting here, because I'm not certain that the subject matter of my book(s) would be well-received. However, I would like to ask, politely, for tagging, if someone feels they could do that for me. Two of my books are presently listed on Amazon and two more are about to show up there. The two that are already there are:

The Goddess Book of Psalms

and

Devotions for the Witch: Devozioni della Strega

Shortly, a hard-cover version of the Book of Psalms will join them, as will my latest book:

Aradia: Gospel of the Witches, Retold.

I would be VERY appreciative of any tagging one might do, and will certainly return the compliment.

Grazie - Thank you.

Kevis Hendrickson (kevishendrickson) | 105 comments Nanette wrote: "Hi everyone,

Nanette,

Every product on Amazon, including your book, has a product tag window. This window allows you to add categories for your book. Once you've added a category for your book, a check box immediately appears, allowing that category to be checked an unlimited amount of times. The more times the category is checked, the higher the ranking of your book in that category. The purpose of adding tags (or categorizing your book) is to make it easier for customers to find it by classifying it into the specific category a customer is searching for.

You should bear in mind that unless you have multiple Amazon accounts, you can only tag each category once. However, if you get other people to tag your books, you will raise the visibility of your book, thereby increasing its chances of being sold.

Additionally, Todd created a site called 'Tag My Book on Amazon' where several hundred authors have agreed to tag each other's books.

My suggestion to you is to go to your book's Amazon sales page, add 15 categories for your book, then join Todd's site so that you can join in the tagging program. Hope that helps to get you started! :)

You do have to have an Amazon account, and to have purchased a book from them for your tags to count.

Also, be aware that you must log in to tag. If you don't, you could undo a tag that you gave previously.
