Hi S.A. I've just tagged your Infernova -- ticked all of them. If you would like to reciprocate you will find my Ferryman at: http://www.amazon.com/Ferryman-Carole...

Carole (casutton) | 223 comments I have checked all addresses given above and see I have tagged them all, S.A. being the last. If you all have kept up with Todd's TMBOA I'm sure you will have already tagged my Ferryman --- But I do have a problem on the Amazon.co.uk site. Where I have 60-70+ tags on the US site, I only have 4 tags on the uk site. I would be very grateful if somebody could bump this up a bit for me! message 1014: by Dr (new)

Dr | 134 comments Todd, here is an idea that you and our other friends here might use to promote their work. I use it and it works for me. Take a look at Triond.com and check out how you can write for pay. (Now, you won't make much that's for sure) But, here is the good part. You can link your own professional work to your submission. You can submit as many articles as you like. Triond sells them to various advertising agencies who in turn advertise for other companies and you get paid for hits. Honestly, it is not complicated. There are various ways to link your major work to this outlet and one way is through your profile and another is through the word links in your submission. You can also submit an article on your book, poetry or whatever. You can submit on just about anything imaginable. Here is my latest and if you like it, click the "I like button at the bottom"..
http://gomestic.com/personal-finance/...
One other thing I do and you might do as well, in the tags, put things that relate to your submission, but also put the complete name of your book or other works and also your professional name. If you don't believe it works, Google my name and you will see bunches of articles that I have submitted.

I hope this helps boost everyone over the top in sales.
Dr Robert E McGinnis

Kevis Hendrickson (kevishendrickson) | 105 comments Hello everyone. I posted this message on Todd's site But I thought it would be great to post it here as well. It concerns an issue that is relevant to us 'taggers'. Here is the message:

"I would like to bring something to everyone’s attention. Since joining this site, I have noticed that many authors do not take the time to enter the requested tags. Instead, they simply go to the sales page and click on the tags that are already there. Because of this practice, many of the books featured on this site are not moving up in the requested categories, including mine.

This is not how the system is meant to work. Every author needs to double check to make certain that the requested tags are included in the tags they click. If you do not see the tag on the author’s sales page, you need to type the tag in yourself.

I want to alert everyone to this problem because I realize that some of us are not playing by the same rules as everyone else."

(END OF MESSAGE)

Just some food for thought.

message 1032: by Dee (last edited Aug 08, 2009 06:18AM) (new)

Dee Marie (dee_marie) | 460 comments The Tag Team Turns One-Year-Old

First off, thank you so much Todd, for all your hard work over this past year of tagging.

Not sure if anyone noticed, but 94 new books were posted in July 2009 [I know, because it just took me nearly 2 hours to play tag catch-up...as my computer has been offline due to major remodel of my house:].

Anyway...here are some Interesting Tag Stats

August 2008 = 19 books to tag
Sept. 2008 = 20 books to tag
Oct. 2008 = 19 books to tag
Nov 2008 = 20 books to tag
Dec. 2008 = 31 books to tag
Jan. 2009 = 55 books to tag
Feb. 2009 = 33 books to tag
March 2009 = 29 books to tag
April 2009 = 31 books to tag
May 2009 = 49 books to tag
June 2009 = 65 books to tag
July 2009 = 94 books to tag

Which comes to a total of 465 books on the "tag me" pages.

If only half of the people that have posted books, tagged all the books, each book on the tag team would have a minimum of 232 tags.

If only half of the authors, tagged half the books...that would mean that each book should have at least 116 tags.

Ironically, the June and July 2009 books have an average of over 100 tags, while the Oct. and Nov 2008 books have between 65 & 70 tags.

Looking at the stats, there appears to be a majority of authors that just want to list their books on the tag-team and not bother to tag other author's books.

I personally would like to thank everyone who has taken the time to tag the 2008 books...and a special thank you to Todd for taking so much of his valuable writing time posting new books to the tag site.

Remember...Tagging is a Team Sport :]

Happy One Year Anniversary Tag Team!

message 1034: by Nancy (new)

Nancy Jarvis (screalwriter) | 54 comments 465! Amazing, Dee. Since I'm caught up and current, I went back to a random 2008 month, October this time, and took a look. I had tagged most, but I found a missed few and tagged 'em. I'll do that for other months in future. Some of the ones I tagged had fewer than 30 tags. Maybe people got discouraged and stopped tagging.

Kevis Hendrickson (kevishendrickson) | 105 comments J.R. wrote: "Maybe people got discouraged and stopped tagging."

If this is the case, then those authors need to have their books removed from the site. It isn't fair that we are making the effort to tag other author's books and they are not reciprocating.

I've heard that there is a way to find out if an author has been tagging books or not. I would love to know how to do this because I will happily go back and remove my tags from any author's book who has not been tagging mine as well. It's not me being vindictive. It's me being fair.

Dee Marie (dee_marie) | 460 comments Hey Kevis,

You are too funny :]

Actually, if I were you, I would just accept that some authors just don't tag while others do...and thank the authors who "are" playing by the rules.

After all, why take away from your writing time :]

By the way, are you working on a new novel?

Oh, and I only posted the stats because I love stats. Also, I thought it was interesting to see how the Tag Team concept has evolved over the past year.

Plus, it truly amazes me that Todd can keep up with everyone. Todd is an author's best friend :]

message 1037: by Todd Fonseca (new)

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Kevis,

There is a way to check tags. When I have time it is something I do and then contact/remove authors who aren't participating. Unfortunately, this has turned into a big task (as you can imagine) and I don't get to checking as often as I'd like. I'm sure if I took the time I could program something to do this for me but I haven't gotten around to it yet.

For those who would like to know how to check on their own. Type in "Amazon [name of author:] profile".

In my case "Amazon todd fonseca profile" and the profile page comes up. On the left hand column you can see my "tag could". Click on "see all tags" - then you will get:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/tagging/mana...

Then you can see all 632 products I've tagged so far!

Happy hunting...

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments All,

For those who may wonder if this whole tagging business is really worth the effort. Check this out.

Occasionally I check search engines (so far Bing actually seems to do the best job) to see where my book comes up.

Today I found an article in the Washington Examiner which lists what kids are reading. At the top of the list in this article - my book! As I've mentioned to others it's not immediately about sales but building a presence. I'm convinced sales come over time. My own experience has been my last 3 months of total sales on amazon outpaced the first 9 months total.

Check out the article here and keep tagging it does make a difference!!!

On another note, anyone wanting to see the books I've tagged, look for "Laura Miller" instead of "Jaimey Grant". Due to some problems with a smearer on Amazon, I changed my profile to my real name. Dee,

You are certainly right that it's probably a waste of precious writing time to go nuts trying to figure out who is tagging my books and who isn't. Ultimately, Todd's site has been pivotal in helping to make my books more noticeable. Truly, I don't have very much to complain about. I guess I just needed to vent a little.

Regarding your question, I am currently writing the sequels my books The Legend of Witch Bane and Rogue Hunter. Readers have been begging me to get them done and I certainly would hate to disappoint! Hopefully, I'll be able to get them completed before the year is up. Thanks for asking!
