How to hit #1 on Amazon...
Hi Leslie, that's great news. I know I tagged you! Have you also seen an increase in your sale's ranking? Interesting to see if there's a direct correlation...
In the begining, as my tags increased, my sales increased. However, I noticed over the past three weeks that none of my tag numbers have changed, and sales have slowed. So, tagging does help :)
Has anyone else noticed the lack of tag numbers increasing?

Dee, I've noticed it with my Grumpy Old Man book. Not sure about the Utamaro one... once it got to no.1 in 'art' I stopped checking so much. I've noticed that the traffic from Amazon to my web site went up with my tag count.Gina

Dee wrote: "Has visions of Gina putting tracking tags in her books ;]"I'm having them too. The last time I did a signing I ended up straightening all the books on the shelves... perhaps a little of slight of hand is all I need ;o)
Everytime I go into the book department in our Super Walmart, I want to bring several of my copies of my novel and put sneak them amoung the other books.I just think it would be too much fun to wait and watch someone walking to the checkout counter with a copy of SOA in hand.
By the way, I updated the blog with a whole new look - come check it out...http://tagmybookonamazon.wordpress.com/
Todd, I like the new look... nice booky banner :o)Dee, there's a scene in the film about the proofreader (can't remember what it's called, but Buffy is in it), where she goes into a bookstore and replaces all of the books in the window with the book she's worked on. I so want to do that... run through Waterstone's window display and put my books everywhere. I don't want to be arrested though ;o)
So you guys have reminded me of a thread I read somewhere (I think on goodreads) where one author mentioned that she takes her books marks for her book and places them in books at her local library (the book mark has a website, etc.). Similar idea, but probably less likely to get arrested!
Yeah, I can read the headlines now, crazy local author, arrested for placing books "in" store...how embarrassing would that be :]Thanks for the reminder Todd, I am behind on four book reviews, your book, Gina's book, and I just finished the Ferryman! I loved them all :]
Hey, I could hire the local newspaper to cover the event. It would make the front page...at least half-dozen people might read it :]

Nice look, Todd! Keep up the good work. :o)
an antique "mama" doll, compo with no markings. I've won first place in Florida since then with my all original Shirley Temple dolls from the 30s. They never got ink! Had a hot Pall Times reporter in the 60s... they don't make em like that any more!
Hmm, not sure we want to be tossing our books around {wouldn't want to damage books, or shopkeepers}, we could, however, toss our bookmarks around :)*Gives Kathy a strong cup of Camomile*
I've tried tossing bookmarks... they're like boomerangs, they come back. Unless you fashion them a dart, but my origami's not all that good.
Gina, for a sweet little English Lady, you sure do have a "wild and crazy" side :]Hey, one question about the grumpy man book...Why didn't they turn the video tapes over to the police...Especially near the end of the story?
I am a bit wild and crazy, in a very reserved and lady-like sort of way, LOL.Dee wrote: "Hey, one question about the grumpy man book...Why didn't they turn the video tapes over to the police...Especially near the end of the story?"
Well, the tapes were evidence... and the Sea View police are in the business of catching criminals, not looking at that stuff. Also, if members of the Sea View constabulary started turning up to court with video tapes as evidence it would be unfair to the other side... with tapes being so thick, and evidence being balanced on the thickness of the case presented, they'd have an unfair advantage. That's just not cricket.
Sadly, that's not far off what I was told when I took my 'real life' evidence to the local police station. I brought it right back home with me and never took it back again :-(
Well, thank you ladies and gents, I have had a very entertaining few minutes reading down through the post today! Love it, love it all! While I have been blissfully slumbering on my side of the world you've been out there Book-dropping, boomeranging, drowning in Camomile, playing dolls and reading books including my own Ferryman. To answer an earlier comment --- yes I find my sales rank creeping up when there is no activity on the tag boxes. Ferryman actually got down to 95,000 odd last week, which I thought was pretty good as I came in a around 8 millionth on my first day! But it is galloping upwards again.
I'm off to check out Todd's new blog --- have a happy day everyone, and try not to get arrested!
Cheers
Carole
Carole, Huge Hugs, I LOVED Ferryman. I was almost late going to the movies last night, because I just "had" to finish your novel :]I hope there will be additional murder mystery tales in the near future!
What a lovely reaction, Dee. Thank you so much for such a comment. Yes, I am currently preparing another book (this one set in Australia)ready to send off to Ferryman's publishers in the hope they will take it on. Of course they will be looking at my sales figures, so any little boost will be helpful, as I'm sure you will know. :) SOA is still waiting for me to finish the current book I am on. I'm a Bryce Courtenay fan, and am in the middle of his Fishing For Stars. He writes blockbusters. But, it won't be long now.
You guys rock. Shop dropping, ha! What if you put some sort of sticky substance on the bookmarks...walk up behind people and pat them gently on the backs. Voila'! They get home, the bookmark drops off, they find it on the floor...must be some sort of sign from above!
Gina, Todd, and Carole,I posted my reviews of your novels on Amazon and on Goodreads.
Gina, I have no idea why...but yours was the only one that did not show up on Amazon. Hopefully it will post later today, or tomorrow at the lastest.
Wonky old Amazon.com...*grumbles*
Ooooh Dee! I've gone all of a flutter now! I'm doing a wavy-arms dance... well, with one arm, the other is typing. I look like I'm riding at a rodeo, lol.Do you mind if I pinch your lovely words and wallpaper the Internet with them? (With appropriate linkage to your site of course)
I have this wonderful image of Gina doing her rodeo-esque, wavy-arm dance. I love it.I need to start ordering everyone's books. I'm on it!

WOW! Thank you for your review, and for your time spent on it, Dee. That was fantastic. May I, like Gina post it out on other sites, with due reference to you of course? Two other independent reviewers been trying to get their reviews up on Barnes & Noble, but they won't come up.
My last reviewer rec'd a message from them suggesting she review the latest book she purchased from them (Ferryman) but they quoted the title as The Ferryman and Other Tales of Horror, and won't accept her review of Ferryman by Carole Sutton!
So, wonky old B&N as well!
Carole
Hey Todd - very nice new look to the tagging site!! You have put a lot of work into it & it has obviously helped all of us :)
I just got caught up on all of the tagging. Also, I hadn't checked my book's tags, but I too have had much slower sales in Jan/Feb (especially slow this month). As I have heard elsewhere & from my own experience last year, sales really picked up in March, so my fingers are crossed that happens for all of us!
