Yep. Horror movies are too *stuff pops out at you and you scream* ish.
Or they're just gross.
But horror stories? Well, those can be actually terrifying. Or maybe just chilling.
But they are so much better with the images, as everybody has his/her own imagination.

I agree.
Plus, you can't get as freaked out by a horror BOOK than a horror movie.
I saw a horror movie on halloween- one month ago- and I'm still terrified out of my wits. And I can't go into the garage without someone coming with me.
Yeah, I sound like a baby.

Books are worse for me. because movies are just like, AH! SOMETHING JUMPED OUT AT ME! Ah! Scary man with a knife!
But stories... they have no limitation. They leave thought trains unfinished, but complete enough so that the reader fills in the rest of the thought correctly. They can be set anywhere, not just somewhere that can be made into something on a screen. You can know the characters thoughts, know exactly how scared they are. You can imagine everything as extensively as you want, or just focus on the characters emotions. Whichever one suits the characters better.
Plus, horror stories can be short, just a quick, five minute read. Those are often the scariest. They capture so much in just one moment of intensity... just one moment, and the impact of an entire book or movie is there.

i agree that books are more psychologically scary, disturbing, etc.
what scares me about horror movies is more, like, the images. like, if someone's head gets ripped off or something, that will really freak me out. O.o but it's a different kind of "scary".

Ah, okay. I see what you mean. Actually, I'm not to phased by the gore...I mean, yeah, it's gross, but I know that it isn't REAL. If I were to read a news story about the same thing, however, I would be disturbed, because then it would be real.
yeah i know what u mean. but when i see gore ... ugggh i can't stand it!!! like, in my head i'm saying "brigid, it's not even REAL. and so much worse stuff happens in REAL LIFE!!!" but it doesn't work. it still grosses me out. >.< urrrrgh

haha, yeah...
Oh, there was a couple in detroit... and they had killed their kids, and were keeping the body parts in the freezer. Then they were grilling sections of meat from the kid, and eating it!
*shudder* ugh, THAT was a nasty story.

i'm like brigid. i can't stand watching gore in movies...yet for some reason, i can read and write about all the gore in the world with no problem. lol :D
same with horror...i can read and write horror with only feeling slightly creeped out, but with movies i will seriously SPAZ.

OMD! Sella, do you mean the camp song? You know, the one that goes like this:
When I was (insert age)
I (insert rhyming action)
I climbed aboard the pirate ship
and the captain said to me,
We're goin' this way that way
front way back way
over the irish sea
A stick of gum
to warm my tum
and that's the life for me!

Um...no....I was saying that the song 'a pirate's life for me' from peter pan was stuck in my head, except the word 'writer's' substituted the word 'pirates'. lol

Unless they're all your friends. :) Then it's TONS of fun.
I think that it depends on the camp too... I've been going to camp linden for years, and I've always loved it. There ususally isn't too much drama, and I end up being friends with everybody in my group. And I only brought a friend along to camp twice, which means that almost every time, I would spend a weekend or a week (once I got a bit older) with a group of complete strangers. It was fun though!
I'm not going this eyar though... because I'm going to Blue Lake instead. :D

XD a catfight? ;] I think girls in general fight more often/hold grudges than guys...
I think that it depends on where you go... Where I am, that's probably more true. I don't know though... it also depends on the age.
In my opinion, immature boys get into fights because they think that it makes them seem manly, and immature girls are unforgiving and cruel to the people they hate.

@Roni; that's a good point. Actually, now that I think about it, a lot of older guys get into fights too, because they want to seem tough.
But soooo goood...
ppl read my horror story Cougar Claw ^-^
