•2011 Reading Challenge!

That's what I keep thinking too Rin, but I'm only 7 or so ahead. Jen, you'll catch up in no time☺

Congrats! You have completed your goal of reading 50 books for the 2011 Reading Challenge!
50 of 50 (100%) Done!
You have read 51 books toward your goal of 75 books.
51 of 75 (68%)
At your current pace, you're 5 books (7%) behind.

108 of 180 (60%)
At your current pace, you're 27 books (15%) behind.
Yay, just more 72 books! o_O

Melissa, don't worry Captain Speed REader (Jennifer) makes us all look bad!lol
Thought I would ask a few question about this challenge...you don't have to answer, it's just for general discussion!
♦So who thinks they will make their goal?
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower?
♦How did you choose your goal for this year?
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past?

♦I WILL make my goal. Failure is unnacceptable! lol Ok. I hope I make my goal. I mean I already lowered it...so I have to.
♦Probably will stay the same unless I can get a bunch of extras in before next Fall.
♦I've always toyed with the idea of writing, but I think I'm way too left brained to do it. I saw an interview with Stephen King a few years ago that said he recommended anyone who wanted to become a writer aim to read 500 books a year from every genre you could pick up. The number stuck with me. I thought maybe if I immersed myself in other people's thoughts it would help knock mine out of my head without me having to analyze every step of the process a million ways and then get ticked off because I messed up. Yeah. I'm a tad bit perfectionistic. So. I probably won't be writing anytime soon.
♦Nope. I never got into any type of challenge until last year. So when January rolled around this year I took the plunge...if I had known it would turn into an addiction....well I would probably still do it. lol
“The habit of reading is the only enjoyment in which there is no alloy; it lasts when all other pleasures fade.” - Anthony Trollope

I'm pretty sure I will make goal, I just need to read 33 more books.
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower?
My goal for 2012 will be higher, I want to read more than 100 books in a year.
♦How did you choose your goal for this year?
I thought 100 sounded good.
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past?
Sort of. I joined GR in Nov '10 and joined this challenge, the goal was a lot lower than 100 since there was only 2 months before the end of the year.
Jen, I can't imagine reading 500 books in a year!!! With the way my TBR mountain keeps growing though I'm wishing I could☺

♦So who thinks they will make their goal? I think I'll make it. I've been racing through books lately.
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower? Next year I'm going to go for 100.
♦How did you choose your goal for this year? I started with 50, because it seemed like a doable number. I finished last month so I upped it to 75.
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past? Nope.

Awesome, you're 10 books (18%) ahead of schedule!
#Will definitly complete my goal although think I might up the goal to 75 once i reach it :-)
#Will be setting my goal to 104 or possibly 156 for next year :-)
#I set it for one book per week but now I have an ereader i'm going through a few a week if I haven't got many things on.
#Never been on a site like goodreads before and i'm finding all the challenges, games and goals addictive. Cant wait to start from a new year and see how obsessed I get :-P

Jenny, your almost done!!! And you just wait...I bet your goal is a lot bigger next year!lol I started reading a lot more once I got my ereader too. What do you have?
Awww, Cortney you'll catch up!
Awww, Cortney you'll catch up!

I changed my reading goal. It was at 100 but I passed that so I changed it to 125.
Update:104/125
Update:104/125

I'm currently 56/75, which is 74% and 1 book behind schedule.

You have read 50 books toward your goal of 78 books.
50 of 78 (64%)
At your current pace, you're 9 books (12%) behind.
Best get a crack on with the challenge books :-)

I didn't realize how close I was so I just upped it to 130.
92 of 130 (70%)
I'm now 7 books (5%) behind.

~ yes, I'm sure I'll make it, lol I may even add to my goal yet w/all the books I've added to read for the fall challenges etc
~ think I might up it for next year
~ my goal started at 100 then I upped it when I got close
~ nope, never done this type of challenge before

47/50
9 books ahead.
I got a Kindle for Christmas and prior to that I was reading about 5 books a year. I'm thinking next year I'll up my goal! My book lengths have been anywhere from >1000 pages: It, to right around 100 page novellas.

52/52
Lol, soooo cool to see other people, fixated on reading a lot of books! I don't have a single friend, who understands my obsession with keeping up to my Book Challenge. Well, it is indeed not that huge - just 52 books, a book per week, but I don't have that much time, plus I'm kinda distracted lately. Right now I'm at 32 out of 52 books and I'm 7 books behind, but I haven't lost hope and I'm gonna make it somehow :).
UPDATE 14/10/2011
♦So who thinks they will make their goal?
I will make my goal. Even if I don't make it from my own personal oh-so-loved-TBR-list, I should start reading for my master thesis soon, and it's going to be partially about literature (at least I'm planning so), so my chances are very good :).
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower?
I think it's going to be either the same or just a bit higher - let's say about 60, because it's a round number :).
♦How did you choose your goal for this year?
I thought that between school and work a book per week might be the easiest to make.
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past?
When I was a kid, I used to read a 100 pages a day.
I made it to 33/52. Still 7 books behind, but I'll try to finish one of the others I'm reading today or tomorrow.
♥Shellbelle♥, thanks for adding me :)! IT's nice to know that there are people out there who understand you :)! Plus most of you are quite more dedicated than me, so I can only get enthused by you :)!
Aleksandra, I have the same problem with my friends! I have a couple who read, but they don't understand why I need to keep track or join any challenges for that matter!
Portia, we will do a 2012 thread to when Goodreads sets up the challenge!
Jennifer and Aleksandra I'm adding you to the list, and if you update, I'll update your progress! Good Luck☺

♦So who thinks they will make their goal?
I will get there as long as I stay away from Henry James.
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower?
A bit higher I think as I didn't do a lot of reading in the first half of the year (mainly due to being in a very high maintenance relationship which has since crashed and burned)
♦How did you choose your goal for this year?
Seemed like a nice round number.
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past?
I was once challenged to see how many apples I could eat.. but that was in primary school and the final denouement was not pretty..

♦So who thinks they will make their goal?
I have faith that I will meet my goal.
♦Do you think that your 2012 goal will be higher or lower?
I'll be aiming for a higher goal in 2012.
♦How did you choose your goal for this year?
I randomly chose a number for the 2011 goal.
♦Have you done a similar challenge in the past?
I've been working on reading a million pages in a lifetime since January of 2010.
