•Introductions

I have actually just last year started becoming more of an active reader. I've never really had time to read for leisure because of all the school books I had to read for college. Now that I've decided to take a long break from it I can finally delve into books that I feel like reading myself.
I am still not quite sure what my favorite genre may be, I like a little bit of everything just like I do with pretty much anything else in life (music, learning, movies, food, etc.). I have a lot on my 'to read' list and still learning how to really give a book a decent review without jumping too much into my very personal reasoning as to why liking a book: "I really connected with this book because I have also been through..."
I'm excited to be on this new little personal journey of mine but also taking my time and burying my nose into nearly anything to find out my reading niche.
I'm glad I took a step and joined this group. 😁
Sarani Stroh from Killeen, TX
Glad to have you, Sarani! We've got something for everyone, so hopefully you'll find something that appeals to you. :)

Welcome! I just wanted to add that I personally don't think there is anything wrong with including personal reasons for connecting with books. When I read reviews I look for those sort of things because if I can relate to what your reasons are than I might also connect with and enjoy the same book.
But if you're looking to include other types of information things to consider are: author's writing style, plotting/pacing, setting and characterization.
Some genre specific things you could also comment on might be world building for SFF, historical accuracy for historical fiction, chemistry between characters for romance, etc.
Have fun on your journey!
Welcome Stormie, Ressa and Sarani! You will truly enjoy this group. There are so many challenges to choose from - so if you don't care for one you can easily find another. I like the quarterly and yearly challenges so that I have longer to find books to fit the requirements. One big plus is that your reading will definitely go way up!
WOW - I went away on a cruise to the inside passage of Alaska (AWESOME!!!) and came back with SO many new people! Welcome to one and all! You will absolutely love it here. We have so much fun with all the different kinds of challenges. Easy to find somewhere to fit in. And people are super friendly, so just ask if you have any questions!

♥Where are you from? United States
♥Your favorite Genre? Mystery. Romantic Suspense.
♥Are you a pro at challenges or a newcomer? Fairly new.
Welcome to The Challenge Factory, Danielle. One of my favorite genres is romantic suspense as well.

I am a new comer to the challenge aspect of reading and decided to join to find new books to read!!

Welcome, Amber! I love long running series like Virgin River, because I always have something to read...until I get caught up that is! Our challenges are changing over for the month, so I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy!
*waves* Hi, Amber. I'm so glad you found The Challenge Factory. I hope that our challenges will help you find those new books to read.

I recently discovered Overdrive from my library. Are audiobooks are allowed?
I also rediscovered Goodreads and am having fun entering all my books. The challenges sound really fun.

Welcome, Kat! Yes, Audiobooks are allowed, in fact, we have a challenge dedicated just to them! It's called I ♥ Audio books!, and the September one is located HERE. The October version should be coming out soon!
I hope you find some challenges you enjoy!

How does it work when doing multiple challenges? I assume you can do the Audiobooks or e-reader challenges along with specific challenges to read certain books?
How about if doing two different challenges, TCF Monthly Challenge for October and 17 Reasons to Own a Black Cat for instance. Would you read different books or count them both places if they apply to both challenges? Thanks.
Kat wrote: "Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. So many fun challenges, plus it gives me a chance to learn HTML! :)

welcome to TCF Kat.
I do both audiobooks and ebooks, no one cares which format you use, I think. And I do use the same book for the multiple challenges because it makes my life easier. I doesnt seem to be an issue.

Welcome, welcome Danielle, Amber and Kat!! You will just love this group. Lots of friendly people and just an enormous number of fun challenges to choose from. Warning though - your reading time will skyrocket! I know mine has ever since I've participated in this group, LOL.

Welcome, Mindy! I'm from Ohio myself, down in the Dayton area! There are tons of different challenges for you to choose from, so I am sure you'll find something that appeals to you!
Welcome Tallyho! This is such a fun group. I'm sure you'll love it - I know I do. Just ask if you have any questions. People are super friendly and helpful.

My name is macala and I come to you from Oregon. I really just read anything that grabs my attention, but if i had to pick just a few genres it would definitely have to be classics above anything else, mysteries, fantasies, and i have been known to indulge in romances as well. I am a new comer to challenges. Iwas really excited when I first found your group, but I'm starting to think I cannot participate as much as i would have liked. I am legally blind and I am not sure what it is, but most posts of peoples have blank spots where my voice over should read something such as titles. I have also noticed people having to edit their posts to add check marks or what not, and my voice over won't read to me anyway to edit my existing posts. So, sadly for me, I don't think this is a good fit for me, which makes me extremely sad, because it looked like so much fun. I would get out of your group so me being a member doens't throw anything off for you guys, but i can't find a way to leave a group. So, if me being a member and not being able to participate is a problem for you moderators then you can unjointed me from the group if you wish. I do want to let you know how much fun your group seems, and I feel as if i miss out not being able to join in on all your fun, but keep up the fun for all the other members.
Good readings to all of you,
Macala

Welcome, Macala! You are welcome to lurk, of course, as participation is not required. However, if you do want to leave the group, there is a way you can do it.
On our home page, you've got the picture of the Factory, then to the left and under it is a picture of a Factory Worker. To the right of the Worker's picture is our Group Name, and under that is our Group Description. Under the description paragraph is a line that says "You are a member. Edit Membership | Edit Group Settings | Group info". The words Edit Membership | Edit Group Settings | Group info are all clickable links. Click on Edit Membership, and it takes you to a new page. At the top of that page is a line that says " You’ve been a member of this group since October 23, 2017 and have made 1 comment." Under that is a link that says "Leave this group." Click that and you're out of the group, should that be your desire. Now, I know you mentioned that you're legally blind, so perhaps a companion can help you using those directions.
I do hope you decide to stay, but even if you leave us, I wish you happy reading!

*waves* Hey, Meg. I'm so glad you found The Challenge Factory. If you have any ideas or suggestions, be sure to let us know.

Welcome, Meg! I hope you'll find a lot of challenges that you enjoy here!

Welcome Meg! You will really enjoy this group I think. I have participated for about a year and a half, and am definitely reading more as a result. Check out the Dusty Bookshelf challenge (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...) - people post several books from their TBR list, and then someone else chooses two books from their list to try to read the next month. Lots of fun!

Meet - I should have also mentioned that the cut off to sign up for the Dusty Bookshelf is Nov. 21st, I think. But I totally get how busy the holiday season is. So if we don't see you until next year that is not a problem!
oops - that should be Meg, not meet. Sorry. A bit hobbled today or I'd hop up and edit my post...

If I don't make January, then I'll aim for February. Taking mom out of town for her birthday in Jan for two weeks, so reading time will be reduced to bedtime only! It'll be a fun trip, tho!

A bit about me, I am 24 and I live in the UK. I read most things other than straight romance though I seem to drift towards fantasy the most. Some weeks I finish 10 books, some weeks I don't get to even start one, so I am hoping that challenges will help me be a bit more consistent!
*Edit: I have now worked out how to add book covers in comments, yay!
Welcome Lith! Wow - 10 books in one week!! I've never done that. I think my highest number is like four... You will enjoy this group. Lots of friendly people to answer any questions you may have.

I tend to read more queer romance than straight romance, but if it's paranormal? I'll read basically anything. My favorite PNR series are The Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward, Immortals After Dark by Kresley Cole, and Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. I read more M/M than F/F which most people find funny. I blame growing up around dudes for it. I have male brain courtesy of being raised by Marines.
Challenges are a new thing for me as far as GR is concerned -I'm a GR newbie user so I'm still learning stuff- but I've done several with my local library. I love how creative challenges get on here! You guys seem epic! I hope I can join the fun soon.

Welcome, Shandra! We're glad you found us!
Sounds like you like a lot of different types of romances...which is cool because I'm a romance junkie! It's pretty much all I read! My challenges are written with that in mind, so be sure to check them out!
*waves* Hey, Shandra. Welcome to The Challenge Factory. Feel free to ask questions. We're a friendly bunch :)

Hi Shandra,

My favorite genres are probably historical fiction and literary fiction, but I will read anything with a good story. I’ve read more books in 2017 than any year before (almost 200). Audiobooks have helped me double my reading - I listen while I exercise, drive, clean, and cook.

Welcome, Jenni! We're glad you found us! Sounds like you have a good plan for joining our challenges in 2018!

I' m Sweetly ( pen name - Sarah) from India. I am an entrepreneur by passion in Medical Field - UK based for the past 12 years and by profession I am a teacher. I am an avid reader of books.
I am basically here as a flashlight to help my best pal. Also I am here to learn a lot from all established authors and their esteemed works.
I do plan to eventually come out with a self-published book in Children's Literature in November of 2018 and an enchanting and thought-provoking script that has the potential to be made into a movie. I enjoy gardening and I am currently pursuing a new hobby knitting.
Looking forward for help and guidance.
:-)

I joined NetGalley this year (2017) and it really made me fall in love with reading. Prior to that I wouldn't have considered myself an avid reader. Though I did enjoy my free monthly book from Amazon. lol
I'm not what you would call a "collector" of books. I just like to read them on my Kindle; and I'm not someone that would generally re-read a novel. I just find there are too many books out there to spend time re-reading books.
I'm new to challenges. 2017 was my first active year on Goodreads and I've made a lot of great friends and have really expanded on my reading and I'm looking forward to doing this in 2018.
I'm always looking to make new friends on Goodreads, so send me a request if you're interested! Happy reading everyone and good luck with your challenges this year.
P.S. My favorite book of 2017 was The Fourth Monkey by J.D. Barker. If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend it!

Hi, Sweetly/Sarah! We're not really an author group...we do a lot of challenges, and while some of our members may be authors, we don't really talk about honing the writing craft like other groups might.
Hopefully, you'll find some challenges that are of interest to you to help you increase your reading for the year!

Welcome, Malina! I'm up in the Dayton area, so it is nice to have another Ohioan so close!
NetGalley has been great for me too, and it really keeps me on my toes with all the deadlines! Did you know that there was a NetGalley group here on Goodreads too?
Hope you find some great reads for 2018!

Hi Trea! So cool! I love when I meet people from Ohio!
Yes, actually I'm a member of a couple of NetGalley groups.
Welcome to Jenni, Sweetly and Malina. I'm so glad that you found The Challenge Factory. Just ask if you're looking for a specific kind of challenge.
