Lyndi (mibookobsession) (mibookobsession) | 259 comments Hi, I'm Lyndi from Michigan. I love classics and historical fiction best, but I'll read anything. I love challenges, so this seemed the group to join. I am currently doing the Millionaire challenge (a million pages in my lifetime). Of the books I can remember, starting with high school and not counting rereads before the challenge, I'm at just under 290,000 pages.

message 922: by Donna (new)

Donna I'm Donna from New Jersey. I love to read anything that has potential to give me nightmares! Love to be scared! I am very new to any type of book groups so please be patient with me if I fail to respond to a post I apologize in advance. I can't wait to finish my first challenge and feel accomplished!

message 926: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (strumpfe) Hi all! My name is Rachel, and I live in Ohio. I will happily read just about anything fictional, regardless of genre, though I have a special soft spot for fantasy and sci fi. I've never really done much in the way of reading challenges since high school, which was many years ago. But I read nonstop anyway, so why not? I'm really looking forward jumping in with you all. :)

message 927: by Jodie (new)

Jodie (stardustcj) Good Morning All. I'm CJ

I am kind of stuck in a rut at the minute reading wise I'm reading a crime book, then reading a YA romance, then crime and so on and so forth. Don't get me wrong I love both genres, but I'm hoping doing a few challenges will get me out of that rut, and may be introduce me to some new books I would never even consider reading.

So I'm a newcomer to challenges and I'm thinking about doing the made into a movie one to start with, after I finish my current book that is.

CJ

message 929: by Carol (new)

Carol Hi, I am Carol and I am from Vermont. I am an empty-nester who loves to read, scrapbook and go camping. I have 4 children, 2 set children and 7 grandchildren. I love mysteries and chick-lit but most anything. I do not like sci-fi of vampire zombie genres. I am a newbie to challenges, not sure how it will go. I just started a new job that has me traveling an hour each way and want to push myself to keep reading, even when I am dog tired at the end of the day. I am listening to audio books during my commute, it has been a lifesaver so far.

message 930: by Mary (new)

Mary Mortimer (memortimer) I'm Mary I'm from a little town in SC. I love reading and feel up for some challenges. I have two plan my reading around 2 beautiful little children but it is so peaceful to get lost in a book. My favorite series is the WOT but in between books I tried to read something else. I'm running out of books to read (I'm rather picky) so being on GR helps me find other well rated books to add to my collection.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I am very lucky to be able to get the audio books from my local library and their affiliate on-line. It saves me so much money!

message 934: by Mary (new)

Mary Fletcher Hi, I'm Mary. I live in Florida and I love to read just about anything. My latest fascination is with stolen art from WWII and I spent the summer reading every book in my little library related to WWII. I am new at challenges, this will be my first one so be gentle!

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments Welcome Mary! Check out the monthly challenges they're good for getting your feet wet :)

message 936: by Penni (new)

Penni | 996 comments I'm Penni and I live in Phoenix, AZ. Ezi lured me here. I'm currently reading mostly PNR/UF. Since getting involved in the GR thing, I've really let my reading obsession get the best of me. Challenges haven't improved that lol. So, I can see that this group will get me into even more trouble. I like audio books as I spend a lot of time commuting and listening helps me get more reading done, and reduces my tendency towards road rage. Glad to be here and see a lot of familiar faces.

Hah! Glad to hear I'm not alone :-)

You would appreciate this then. Every morning I drive from Chandler, to Auhwatukee, to north Scottsdale (home, school1, school2, work). In the afternoons I usually get to leave out Auhwatukee as hubby picks up kid 2. It's why I need my audio books :-) By the time I get to work, I'm ready for a nap lol.

Wow! That's a lot of freeway driving. Bless your heart. Yes, I would definitely say your NEED your audio books. And patience. And aspirin. And relaxing weekends.

So this year in July I decided that I was going to start reading again and the challenges here have kept it fun and interesting. I've started off doing some of the easier challenges for now, but am hoping to be able to do a lot more next year.
