Midnight for Charlie Bone
question
Midnight for Charlie Bone to Harry Potter

To me Charlie Bone is alot like Harry Potter. The book does have it's difference though. BUT I STILL SAY IT LIKE A HARRY POTTER REMIX.

Dude, it totally doesn't remind me of Harry Potter in any way, shape or form!
I think Charlie Bone was a complete copy of Harry Potter. Everything was the same, mean relatives, amazing school, and Charlie bone was published after Harry Potter. But I absolutely loved Charlie Bone and would recommend it to anyone. By the way, have anyone seen that another book came out by Jenny Nimmo? It's called CHRONICLES OF THE RED KING THE SECRET KINGDOM.
Well, they only have five similarities, but it's completely different.
i like charlie bone books even it is the copy of harry potter
I personally don't see the what everyone has been talking about. I love both these series although it has been a long time since I read this one, and I never at any point thought they were similar. I think I might have read this series inbetween reading Harry Potter, so I'm sure I would have noticed. Comparing them and saying that it is a copy is unfair as you only have to look at the recent books that have been published which are ultimately just the same things with different names. I'm serious. I'd rather read about kids with magic powers than vampire/angel/whatever they are lovers who we all know are just going to end up together in a slightly bizarre and almost sickening way.
The back cover makes it sound like a rip off, though they're really different. And making great schools isn't too bad of a rip off, especially in this case. What do you expect when you're targeting an audience of kids in school? The character is usually away from parents, and we don't need any more orphan origin stories (No offense, but the special orphan main character path is really worn out)
I really like Charlie Bone, I'm just weird-ed out by all the similarities put together on the book summary.

How can the Charlie Bone books be a copy of Harry Potter? Bloor's Academy isn't a school for magic, it's a school for students who excell in Art, Music or Drama. The endowed kids are only there because the Bloors want to control them. The bad guys are not all in Drama, for example. There are bad guys in all the 'houses.'
Also, Charlie is not an orphan. He has a mother! He has a father figure in Paton. Charlie's biological father disappeared when Charlie was two years old, but that doesn't make Charlie an orphan.
How can you compare Charlie and Harry Potter, as well as both book series, together? It's just not possible.

It's a lot like Harry potter. I just finished the book and I must say, that is a very good book.
They're similar in plot.
Harry Potter is meatier while Charlie Bone is simplistic without the sincere deeper messages or character relatability. In Charlie Bone, character personalities are very general and related mainly to their interests and hobbies rather than intimate, believable interaction.
Charlie Bone is sweet and possesses less of a sense of danger. Characters die less and the few deaths that occur are milked or copped out of. A character would not show up with blood gushing from his head because he lost an ear.
Any wisdom is basic and not thought provoking. We should be brave, we should be good; vague, general things we hear in every story, but never expounded on meaningfully. Harry Potter takes themes like bravery and dealing with death and shows them in a new light.
Is the tone of Charlie Bone lighter because the author wanted the style that way or because she didn't know how to make it deeper? I'm not sure; but J. K. Rowling remains unique as the only author who took the genre a step further.

It's just as much of a copy as saying Harry Potter is a copy of Lord of the Rings. Harry Potter is heavily influenced by Lord of the Rings but it has it's own unique flavor just like Charlie Bone has it's own flavor. Harry Potter is like the weird dream you'd have after reading the Lord of the Rings and Charlie Bone is the weird dream you'd have after reading Harry Potter.
It's not really like Harry Potter. The plot (if you can call it that) is totally different. BUT I do think it was a forced (and awful) attempt to write a Harry Potter-like story. The author was trying very hard for that magic formula that made HP so successful.
And while it is different from Harry Potter, you can tell that was forced too. Almost like she wanted to write the same story, but knew she couldn't copy it verbatim, so she made deliberate changes. Just so it was different enough not to be a straight rip off.
If it were an original story, that wouldn't be the case. It would flow naturally and people wouldn't be seeing it as a HP rip off.

Harry Potter and Charlie bone books both have 8 books in the series.
