May Campbell I laughed out loud in these scenes.

Freya Mason My family were mad keen football fans when I was a kid and addicted to HG and Roy. They were hilarious then as is the parody of them in 'In and Out of Step'. The novel brought those memories back to me.

I see you gave it five stars too. Don't you just love this novel! It's so real and captures the complexity of love as well the bravery required to get past emotional scars.

Samantha Peters Hi, I've really enjoyed the parody. My dad remains a huge HG and Roy fan and our family were exposed to lots of their football commentaries. As a result, I could really connect to the humour in the parody scenes. I also like the fact that this novel crosses over from the fictional world into the real world by linking to HG and Roy. I realy like Selton!

Faye Stephens My family weren't interested in football so I missed out on the original duo. That said, I still enjoyed the parody scenes. I thought the banter was a good way to reveal aspects of Selton and Vander Huffen's respective characters. Initially I lumped the male teachers into the one basket, but that perspective changed when I realised they were not part of what was going on in the undercurrents of the workplace. These scenes capture the way humour insulates from stress.
