I think that the epilogue fits because it is the final realization of a somewhat safer and happier future which is pretty much what those fighting against Voldemort wanted. I hope this makes as much sense as it did in my head. :)
I didn't like the happy ending and the love.. ron & hermione was fine, but I never liked the idea of harry & ginny ..I also expected harry to die..or perhaps one of the trio should've.
But what really annoyed me was the "19 years later".
(about the movie..that was just terribly done..)

I always wished it'd be Harry and Hermione, 'cause they are my two favorite characters (well, Hermione especially…), though Ron and Hermione is fine.

i read somewhere that rowling had this connection with the character of teddy (lupin and tonks' kid) and she wrote the epilogue to show that even though he was orphaned he was okay..because he was living in a better, happier world. I just read it off a "harry potter facts" blog, so i cant be positive if she ACTUALLY said that, but i thught that was interesting!
I must say, the end is cheesy, but I just like it.. Everything is just one big happy ending after all the drama and stuff that's going on in all the other books. It's not the best thing she has written and it's not my favorite part in all the books, but it's not that I absolutely hate is.
I liked it, but I don't think as a reader I really needed it. At that point, you know the story is done, and the kind of book it is, you know it's going to be happy ever after, so there's no actual need to tell us.Soemtimes it's just nice to be told stuff you know, though.
The ending was cheesy, but I feel like it was the perfect way to end the series.Cheesy isn't always bad, you know.
I personally think it was the best Epilogue ever. It told us exactly what we wanted to hear. The war was already over, of she'd ended ti there, people would have asked everything in the current epilogue.
A lot of people didn't like the ending, it seems. I myself didn't like the ending. I guess the only thing to say is, that's what fan fiction is for!

I was really disappointed because i felt that them having children was a way that she could continue the franchise at a later date if she wanted. (Thus far she hasn't done it which i'm thankful for)
I thought it was almost the childish option, like the way you would end a fairy tale- which are okay in their own context but it just doesn't fit in with harry potter.
I also can understand why she would do it i mean Arthur Connan Doyle got death threats when he tryed to kill of Sherlock Holmes, and I can imagine similar things happenning to JK if she'd killed HP off, but still, I thought she could have ended it better.
