Ellen (karenvirginiaflaxman) | 115 comments There are three separate listings for the same book in Goodreads.

Yes, I know two of these have the same Goodreads number, but when one searches for this book this shows up twice. I think these all need to merged into one listing altogether. It's very confusing as it is now. Do you agree? Thanks!

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments They are all combined.

The Goodreads search is somewhat... inept when it comes to punctuation marks.

Are you searching for "Kafka Was the Rage: A Greenwich Village Memoir" (with the colon)? If you are, I suspect if you look under the search box the Barnes & Noble circle will be filled in instead of Goodreads. Since Goodreads can't process the colon, it switches to a B&N search which does not take into account book combinations.

If you search for it without the colon it only comes up once. :)

When I did the original search, Vicky, I didn't use a colon or any other punctuation marks. I simply typed in the title and author of the book into the Goodreads search field at the top of pages. And all of these showed up! Before I was a librarian I would do searches as a person simply looking for books and I would see all these different versions and wonder why they were all listed separately; I suppose this is what comes of everyone's being able to add books, right? And now we just clean up the mess, right? LOL! Thanks so much for taking care of this one.
