I think that the author's purpose to write this book was to make kids that are wanting to pursue a further career in basketball because in the book they talk about that in 10th grade he tried out for the varsity squad with his friend then the day that they got the information that they would know if they got the cut or not it came out and his friend made the varsity squad but after all that work he Michael Jordan did not make the cut. He tried to not let it bother him at school and when he got home he closed his door and let it all out. The author's point is showing how good he was and how he is going to be good in the days to come.
