I noticed that too as I was on my way into work this morning. I think it's because so many stores opened at midnight last night.

No, you never fail! You're still reading books on your TBR list, right? ;)

Why is it whenever I get halfway through a challenge all of my other books not chosen for the challenge start looking so shiny and alluring that I am steered away? So odd...
I have that same problem at times Kourtney! It isn't like I can't fit books in. I just want to read different ones that don't fit...
I have that problem too sometimes. Usually though - especially during the summer with all the new releases that come out then - I try to look ahead at what's coming out and figure out a way to fit new releases in.
I think it's because the ones we read first are the ones we really wanted to read, then we get to the ones that we want to read but not as bad as others and they worked better to fit the challenge. (How's that for a run-on sentence? LOL!)

Ooh, good one Suzanne. Could you tell a difference in the writing from one decade to the next?

Ooh, good one Suzanne. Could you tell a difference in the writing from one decade to the next?
Stacy-Yes, I could definitely tell a difference! The book from 1986 was not good. ha. But it did remind me of this one series I used to love when I was younger, called Sweet Dreams. So I liked it for the nostalgia factor. The descriptions of clothes and the dialog were pretty awful. With the Sarah Dessen book, I could definitely tell it was one of her first books. It wasn't bad, I just feel her writing has gotten so much better over the years. Oh & it was kinda weird thinking that the character was 16 in the book (in 1998) so she'd be like 30 now! (if she was a real person, haha) The Pretty Little Liars book used lots of current stuff, brand names of things, etc. (as all her books do) which definitely set it apart from the other two.

I so want to do that task, but I'm afraid I won't be able to stick with the older books. I have a hard time reading anything pre-2004.

I probably wouldn't have done it except that my sister gave me that cupcake book. She found it at a used book sale and got it for me as a joke, since we both love cupcakes. ha. Honestly, I'm not really into books before around 2004 either. Glad I'm not the only one! It's funny because that other book I'm struggling to get through, English as a Second Language, is from 2004.

LOL, that might be why then! I absolutely will not read it if it's before 2000. Anything between then and, basically, 2005 is iffy for me. There are a lot out there that I want to read, but I try to stick with newer ones. Some older ones I will try because they're RDI or on that ultimate chick lit list...or authors that I like. But beyond that, not so much.
Glad to know I'm not the only newer chic lit snob. ;)
