I read this book maybe 3 years ago. All I remember is a young woman who goes back to her home town and I think she is haunted by the murder of a young girl that took place when they were children. Don’t remember if the girl was her best friend? Anyway, she goes back to the town and stays in this little cottage. She falls in love with someone, not sure if it was a relative of the little girl. I also remember something with a farm, sugar cane, not sure if I am confusing this book with another. Also, there was a swamp. Maybe that is where the murder took place. Anyway, the little girl’s murderer is angry that this woman is poking around and he starts doing things to frighten her away. I think at the end of the book we find out that it was the town sheriff or a deputy that was the murderer. I know that this is not very thorough and it’s all in mumble jumble, but I hope someone can help! Thanks!

I've read this book. As I was reading your description I was like, yeah, I remember that. Alas, I have no idea the title or author's name. I hope someone can help you out though, I'd like to know myself.
If it is Nora Roberts, then it sounds like Carolina Moon. That's the one where she moves back and tries to solve the murder of her childhood best friend and she falls in love with the brother.But I think the one with the swamp is Carnal Innocence. That one has a serial killer and he takes his victims to a swamp behind the heroine's house to kill them.

Hey Sarah, Thanks. I must be confusing two books. Yes, I did read Caroline Moon, thanks for bringing it to my attention, but I don't think it is the book I was looking for. Let me check out Carnal Innocence's review on Amazon and get back to you.
