I've been reading Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor it's based in various places including Morrocco, Rome and Vatican. Love the whole picture that's been created! The series of this book is mostly based in Prague in the beginning and that's quite beautiful too.

I'm so happy to see this! I am already on a personal challenge to read a book representing each of the states so finding that thread was wonderful! I'm reading Come, Thou Tortoise. The action takes place in Newfoundland but the tortoise lives in Oregon so I'm counting it as Oregon.

What an exciting challenge, Betty! My dad took me to different US states during summer vacations. By age 13 I'd been to all the states but five. Now you've got me wondering how many states I've covered in book settings I've read!

When you get to the US territories, please consider reading NO SURRENDER SOLDIER, set in Guam. I would be honored. :-)

Halfway through The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. Honestly I'm having a bit of trouble getting into the story but I am enjoying the descriptions of Amsterdam.

I just finished reading Le totem du loup set in the Steppe of Inner-Mongolia in the middle of the 60's and early 70's during the "Cultural Revolution".

This novel was the author's first and so far only novel written and it sold more than 20 million copies in China. I loved it, rated it 5 stars, and reviewed it.

I just started Sunlight on a Broken Column by Attia Hosain, which takes place in 1930s India and is about a Muslim family.

A fascinating meditation on love, marriage, loneliness, social mores and so on, by Hungarian writer and journalist Sandor Marai (1900-1989). I'm reading the English version. Gripping!!

I started Another Country by James Baldwin. I'm in the U.S., but Baldwin tells the story of this country through eyes that see it differently then those that pen the average American-authored book.

I am currently reading "The silent world" by Jean-Jaques Cousteau - about the beginning of sport scuba diving as we now it today. Takes place mainly in Southern France and it is fantastic. A true gem and I highly recommend it for anyone interested in France, the ocean or both :-)
