~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I am so sick of headlines and blurbs that ask:

"Is _________ the new _________?"

or claim

"It's _________ meets ________."

I keep running into a re-re-re-posted article entitled "Is Night Circus the New Harry Potter?" Unless it is the next volume in the series, no it's not. I understand it's a marketing ploy, suggesting that this object/book/color is the one that will fill the space that the previous one has abdicated, but I'm sick to death of hearing it.

I hate "it is what it is."

Félix (habitseven) Stop it, I say! Just STOP IT right NOW!

message 4: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Calm down Larry, it is what it is, and there is nothing you can do about it.

message 5: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments The New York Times was obsessed with X meets Y descriptions a while back. I think they've banned them lately. Some of them were oh-so-clever and witty. Yuck.

message 6: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I sure hope I'm not the new Stephen.

message 7: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Ack! I've had that fear myself Phil, on my heavy-posting days.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I really wish I knew who this Stephen character was now.

He's getting there.

Brittomart Larry is Clark meets anger management.

message 12: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It is what it is.

message 13: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart I imagine Amber having a Howard Beale freak out the next time she picks up a newspaper.

I'm not angry. Just tired. Learn from my mistakes. Don't wait until you're 40 to have kids.

message 15: by Jim (new)

I wish someone had given my dad that advice when he was younger. My youngest sister was born when he was 42, and then he decided to go through a midlife crisis.

No, it keeps my hair spiked and I save a ton on product.

The twins were born when I was two weeks shy of 43. Somewhere my mom and dad are laughing their asses off.

message 21: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments My mom can relate. My grandmother was 40 and my grandfather 50 when she was born.

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary (merrussell) My Mom was 40 when I was born-it was a trip having older parents. Apparently, I was a tumor and a bargain because she liked to tell everyone I only cost $1 to be born at Ft. Carson.

I mean I was a tumor up until I was born...

What was this thread about?

message 28: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

 ~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Pointless anger.

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Ahhhh that would be why I had no clue what was going on. I've let go all pointless anger. (Today at least anyway.)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments What about pointed anger? Harder to let go of that, I find at least.

message 31: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 14, 2011 05:20PM) (new)

There is always room for some pointed anger. Not today though, I'm feeling too calm and relaxed.

Based on his photo and profile, I wish I was around here while he was still a member. The opportunities for heckling must've been tremendous.

message 47: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments He was alright except for the posting thing. He seemed infatuated with Gus though.

I have a feeling that you and Stephen may not have gotten along all that well.

message 48: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Now Gary was a different story. Oh wait ... that was another group, I think. Never mind.
