70s sci fi novel i read as a child; Spacemen crash land on a planet and the indigenious species are telepathic. some of the spacemen die from eating fruit

i read a sci fi novel as a kid (around 1976) and i cant remember its title or author but i would like to read it again. Its probably easier if i list what i can remember from the plot (sorry, its going to be vague). Spacemen crash land on a planet and the indigenious species are telepathic. some of the spacemen die from eating fruit (i think it was the fruit that made them telepathic), the spacemen have a robot that can replicate anything. something happens later (a conflict of somesort or ice age?) and they retreat underground, seal off the entrance and the robot creates a whole new world for them. the novel then jumps to the future (on earth) and the underground race are discovered - the underground race are transparent but obviously human in form. shock horror! the end. any help would be appreciated, thanks
