Or have grown up in Eastern Europe in not such a distant past.

Bah, who needs rubber playground mats? I think we were made of stronger stuff in the old days. ;)

You know you're ancient when you complain about youngsters not being able to write, and how they write you know your ancient when.... or there/their going to XYZ, or I don't want to brake this pretty china.

1) You got up to change the TV.

Guilty on all six counts! and BTW... I got up to adjust the rabbit ears too! And as to 3.... What about reel to reel tapes?

Of course I've actually snogged two of the original Village People. (I had a friend in the music biz)
Who knew? The American Indian in the VP was Puerto Rican!

You had to feed paper into your printer using the strip of holes on either side.
You know the rest of the words to: In West Philadelphia born and raised on the Playground was where I spent....
Your TV remote had a cord!

He was probably just being polite and refers to all men that way. ;)

Huh?

I typed 80 wpm and took 110 wpm in shorthand.
Neither has made me rich.

Didn't you hate it when the DJ talked over the opening music and didn't shut up until the singing started? Ugh! And I hated when you got 90% of a song at the end of one side and the tape quit.
And for us old(er) folks to reminisce, if you've seen Guardians of the Galaxy, you know how great the soundtrack is. They are actually releasing it on cassette tape!

Honestly, slides are supposed to burn your legs on sunny days. What is childhood without that?

I have no nostalgia for them at all.

No, back then, I worked in a real estate appraisal office. Now I'm a recent college grad and unemployed, not for much longer hopefully.

You know you're too old when...
-you watched Elvis' last performance on Live TV
-you could still take a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to lunch
-chicken nuggets didn't exist
Michael wrote: "I didn't see Elvis's first appearance on Ed Sullivan but I did see the Beatles!"
I saw both and Elvis (I think) on the Dorsey Brothers Show

I wish chicken nuggets had never been invented. Nothing beats homemade chicken fingers.

Analogy time?
Visicalc:Excel::WordPerfect:Word
Betamax:VHS::ReplayTV:Tivo
Remember when the price of Gasoline crossing the $3 threshold was cause for outrage?
All this old-timey stuff makes me want to interpolate a logarithm!

How about this analogy?

Is it me or has the quality of store-bought jelly deteriorated? Perhaps it is because I no longer can pick up homemade jellies and jams from my grannies.

School is much more interesting this time around.
Nice analogies! Visicalc was the 1st spreadsheet software and was made 1st for the Apple ][ in 1983. It made the personal computer into a business machine. Those were the days of having to remember and use lots of cryptic keyboard commands.
The 1st word processor I remember was Wordstar and then Apple Writer. They were both 40 columns, though Wordstar could be tricked into displaying 79 columns by using sprites IIRC. Apple Writer required an 80 column card on an Apple II+ for a business letter and lowercase letters. The Apple IIe came with native column support. All this from memory, so wiki it if your really interested in the early days of the PC (after the VIC-20 and Commodore 64). Fun days!
FWIW, Betamax should have won.

It kinda surprised me how relatively easy it was to make the transition from DVD to Blu-Ray.
