Fun stuff - "Casting" the Movie (hypothetically)
Matt Czuchry gets my vote for Cahil, if only for playing charming but jerky Logan Huntzberger in Gilmore Girls. One of the few criticisms I had of Gabra Zackman's reading of Magic Study (audio) was that the voice she uses for Cahil totally makes him seem like a dumb-witted surfer-dude. I think he's gotta be arrogant, a bit dense, but charismatic enough so it can be believed not only that his Ixian refugee entourage are fully loyal to him, but that he has the clout to bring the Sitian Council to his side in deciding how to deal with Ixia (with or without Roze's machinations). I also think it has to seem that he actually knows a bit about leading a country--to seem a real potential threat to Ixia's Commander. Let's face it, the Bill & Ted-type voiceover doesn't strike much fear in me.
Also I like a bad guy for whom you can feel a little sympathy (for those of you who haven't read Fire Study, you'll see what I mean--not everything is as it seems with Cahil).
And a little bit of eye candy never hurt anyone... *urp*

I like him for Valek - they could make him look older. : ) Besides, as long as you believe it... what does it matter that he was born in the 80's. sigh.
Okay, okay. Matthew Macfayden would be good. Born in '74, blue eyes, tall, dark hair. I didn't read through the rest of the thread so maybe someone has already listed him.
Ooh, good one! (I think Jane would approve, she loves that P&P version)
I know I've named like, 8 Valeks already but I can't resist another: Jack Davenport. If you're googling for pics, ignore the big 70's hairdo from Swingtown. And if you're wondering where you've seen him, he's Norrington in Pirates of the Caribbean, and Peter Smith-Kingsley in The Talented Mr. Ripley.

I am not sure if we have someone selected for Yelena yet, but what about Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang from Smallville)? She has the height, eyes, and darker skin that Yelena has, although I am not sure about her acting skills. She could always hone them...
Kristin Kreuk... hmm. She seems just a bit too snotty and a little too much the popular cheerleader compared to Yelena's toughness. But that's just me. I still like Natalie Portman the best. : )
I agree with Mindy. I would definitely think of Natalie Portman as Yelena rather than Kristin Kreuk.
You know, the more I think of Natalie Portman the more I like the idea. You guys are winning me over!
No I haven't but as I tried to imagine her as Yelena, the movie poster popped into my mind. I think that is what Yelena would have looked like when she stood before Valek and accepted the poison taster's job.
Yes, I think that's really the image I saw when someone suggested Natalie Portman. The movie is really good, you should check it out.
OMG! Yes! I loved that movie. I can't believe that V was played by Hugo Weaving (Mr. Smith from the Matrix movies).
Wasn't he absolutely amazing in the movie? As was Natalie Portman? I wonder who we could cast Hugo as ... any ideas?
There is a a great picture of Natalie Portman in imdb.com that you should check out. I would post it here but don't have a clue how. Any help? Anyway here it ishttp://www.imdb.com/media/rm646617344...
All she needs is the messy hair!
I don't know who he could be. Maybe Yelena's dad? He really was excellent in that movie. Gisela, that is a good picture of her. She looks Yelena tough.
Hmmm... that could be possible. I do like how touch Natalie looks in that image, definitely reminds me of Yelena.
Here's another one, this is the look I think Yelena gave Reyad before she killed him:http://www.imdb.com/media/rm316333004...
Ooohh yes, that look seems very fitting, very evil, but in a good way... because we all wanted Reyad to die...
Yes! I really like Natalie Portman as Yelena. She does a really good job in V, but as to trying to get Hugo into the Study Series...well...I'm not too certain about that one. I don't think he'd be good as Yelena's dad probably because I can't get rid of the commanding roles he's played-Matrix, LOTR, V-and coincide with a fatherly nature-loving character.

hahaahahah Oh man. I'm sorry but i can't imagine Hugo as a drag queen. I gotta see this! Is it a good movie?Oh Hugo as moon man? Hmm... I was kind of imagining a dark-skinned kind of guy-someone who is used to living in a desert. If anyone has seen any of the 3rd season of HEROES, then I kind of imagined that precog, Usuto, as Moon Man. :)
I have to say I go for a Natalie Portman look for Yelena as well. Small thin frame, pretty. Like so:
I also think Kate from a Knights tale has a Yelena look to her. In my mind at least!

For Valek, I haven't found a face yet that I like. But for Valek's hair I imagine it similar to the locks on Kraven from the movie Underworld.

Mmmm wavy longish hair make Alli happy.
Oooh yes, that hair works really well. THat pic of Natalie is GORGEous... I'm so jealous. If I looked like that I'd vote for myself in that poll... hahaha.
Heehee I know she's so beautiful! I love her in that green. I think it was the green that made me think of Yelena.
Yes! I agree Kraven would make a good Valek, however I'm not too thrilled about that photo. lol I tried looking up good photos of him and they really don't do him justice! What a bummer!Alli- and the background even looks like a forest!
Hi! I'm fairly new. Thought I'd participate in this fun topic by trying to collage together the choices mentioned so far for Valek. Also added a few of my own mentions: Karl Urban, Ioan Gruffudd, Sean Maher, Ben Barnes and Tom Wisdom... I guess you can't post the widget so here's a link.Slide Link for Possible Valeks!
Made another one. I threw in Sunner Glau, Devon Aoki, Jessica Biel, Christina Ricci and Milla Jovovich into the realm of possible Yelenas...
Slide Link for Possible Yalenas!

Most definitely on this one Alethea he would make a great Cahil, I am still looking for the perfect Yelena and Valek

For V..."
Yes these two people would be great for Yalena, But its hard to decide between the two of them.
Ooooh yes, the green would remind you of Yelena's naturally green eyes. My eyes can sometimes be green, but they're usually cloudy grey or blue. Not what I think of when I think of yelena... I think emerald. Natalie has brown eyes, but I think she'd look great with green contacts in.
Kristen wrote: "Ooooh yes, the green would remind you of Yelena's naturally green eyes. My eyes can sometimes be green, but they're usually cloudy grey or blue. I thin..."yes green contacts would look great, I am short and have green eyes but that would be were the resemblance ends lol, and I think I may be too short LOL

It's a weird movie, I'll say that. When I first saw it I didn't really get it (about a bunch of Australian drag queens in a motor home). But seeing it later, I thought it was cute. I don't know how well it's aged. It's about 14-15 years old.
Alli - I like your Valek. I've never seen that movie. But he's a good pick I think. How do you get the pictures in there!?! Darn goodreads, not as easy for the computer-slow. ; D
Meme, They can make you look taller in the movies. They have their "ways" - so I don't think anyone could be too short.. unless they're a midget. I can't really see Yelena played by a midget.
hummm wonder If I would look right as being tall I am only 5 1 lol but that is something to think about though.
Not too bad. I have a friend who is 4'11 and her husband is 6'7" - now that is just weird to see them together. Now I can't get an image of a midget Natalie Portman out of my head... I'm too silly sometimes.
yes it is my hubby isnt quit that tall, he is 6 4, LOL yes I think your minds runs in the same direction as mine hahaha
Hahaha it's too fun being crazy to stop. Except I can only picture guy midgets so a midget guy with a natalie portman wig.. yeah.. just getting worse as I keep thinking about it.

And hey, Lee Pace is only 29, so even if they don't make a movie for a few more years I think he'd make an excellent Valek.
And I think now that Alfonso, in his previous post, meant Bridget Regan as Kahlan in the tv series The Legend of the Seeker as in Wizard's First Rule and not Amelia Warner as Maggie in the botched film that was the adaptation of The Dark Is Rising. I think Regan would need more of a tan and I haven't seen the show but isn't she quite tall?
