Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It's obviously a good place Carl - it's booked up for ages!

message 202: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Ah, Joo, you make a very good point :)BTW, I've nearly finished the interview.x

It's well worth a booking, Kath. It cost seven hundred and fifty pounds for a week at Easter. It had six bedrooms and four floors. Great for a family.x

message 203: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments And I was going to start cracking the whip ;p
Much as I'm eager to post your answers, I can't bump Karina again, so you will have to wait a few days, so take your time.

(Jim's is still my favourite, so there's your bar to beat)

message 204: by Carl (last edited Apr 09, 2012 06:02AM) (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Jim's an enigma. How could I ever beat that bar?!! Sadly, I'm supremely dull.xx

message 205: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Supreme. One out of two's not bad though.
I love the new picture!

message 206: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Aww, thanks Ignite. I've had my hair cut (what little is left) :)

message 209: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Still got the hairy picture eh Carl? That's a really interesting interview. It's hard to believe you can get such variety when the questions are always the same.
Proud, self confessed pedant? I've met her sort before!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Sounds familiar eh Ignite?

message 211: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Ha ha@Ignite. Yes, I prefer the shorn me. Yes, her type are a really funny breed :)

message 212: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments You didn't tell me what pic you wanted. You're lucky you got that one ;p

message 213: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I was hoping you were going to go for one of me in a Mankini. Ah, well :)

message 214: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I might have to go and have a little lie down!

message 215: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I did think, but didn't want to scare my readers.

message 216: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments :) Scare them, Joo? I would've thought your readers might appreciate a pasty, flabby, wobbly example of the male form.

message 217: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Give them all something to aspire to? I reckon we've earned a few extra inches round the middle. It's the mark of success!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Some of us have a few extra spare tyres!!

message 219: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I'd just like to say that as part of a one off promotion I am offering my book The Time Hunters for the grand sum of zero today (22nd April).

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I thought I'd share some exciting news with you all.

Bertrand Brasil, a major publishing house in Brazil (and publisher of Lee Child, Marian Keyes, Nora Roberts, Sid Sheldon) has emailed me saying they're interested in buying the rights to 'The Time Hunters' for release as a print book and e-book.

I've had to send a pb copy to Rio de Janeiro for them to evaluate it.

I'm not saying it'll happen, but it's very nice that someone so far away should even take an interest :)

message 227: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments Oh wow! That is really exciting Carl, congrats :-)

message 228: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments It must make you feel very fulfilled Carl. I really believe that the book is worth a publisher's time and financial commitment too.

As long as they don't make you rewrite it again. We'll NEVER get Book 3 at this rate!

message 229: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Ha. Well, thanks Ignite and Emma. We'll just see what happens. I'll believe it when I get a cheque :)

And I've just finished another chapter of TH3 today. It ends with the death of a character or two from Book 1 :)

message 230: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments The new 'Time Hunters' promotional image is now for all to see on my blog http://carlashmoreauthor.blogspot.co.uk/

message 234: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I am offering The Time Hunters for free today.
I hope you will take advantage!

message 235: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I love to take advantage of younger men Carl but I already have the book!

Good luck with the free promo. I hope it gains more readers for the second.

message 236: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Thanks Ignite ;)

message 237: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Can I just thank Nikki Cook for the 56th Five star review of TH1. Very kind, Nikki :)x

message 238: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments You're raking them in lad!

message 239: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Ah, I'm very fortunate, my dear. How are you doing at the mo anyway? What's new on the Kath front?

BTW, I am plodding on with TH3, but it's a struggle. I've just been Ofstedded at work. Not fun. :(x

message 240: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Ergh. I remember Ofsted! I was an administrator so they rarely bothered creeping into my den!
I'm fine Carl. Reading, reviewing, even writing a bit of poetry in between. Been on holiday to Killin and Oban Up North. We had those fabulous 6 days too. Now that's lucky!

If you're bored or fancy a change, we are collecting items for another group anthology of which I'm editor. If you have a short story up your jumper now's the time to fess up!

message 241: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments Ah, this Ofsted seem to creep everywhere. It's great to hear you write poetry. Any chance of publishing some on Kindle? I think it's a great medium for poets.

So many readers snatch at reading with the Kindle (on the tube/bus etc). Perfect for poets, I'd say.

Another anthology, eh? Mmm, I did write a short story a few years back. I'll have a look for it. I'm not sure if it still exists :( xx

message 242: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments There were 3 of mine in the group anthology last year and a few on the Poetry thread here Carl. I have 2 sorted out to put in this year's.

Dig out that short story!

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Hey Carl - I just had dinner with Alan Hutcheson of Boomerang fame... in Dublin! He said to say hi and he is going to go and buy Time Hunters 2 as soon as he can.

message 244: by Carl (last edited Jun 12, 2012 02:19PM) (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I'm looking, Ignite. I think it's on a very old memory stick.

And Gingerlily, that's lovely of him. I hope he paid for dinner, he can afford it. :) I'm a big fan of his.

Can I just let you guys know that the major publishing house in Brazil has emailed me to offer a publishing deal (print and ebook) on 'The Time Hunters' - a nice advance and ten percent of the retail sales price.

I'm now awaiting the contract.

It's obviously smashing news for me and I'll keep you informed as to what happens on this strange journey.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments He did Carl, and very nice it was too! I got to meet his wife and his son, and they are all lovely.

Congratulations on the publishing deal - thats wonderful news!

message 246: by Emma (new)

Emma (emzibah) | 4125 comments I said it already but congrats Carl, that is fantastic news xx

message 247: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Wow, that's fabulous news Carl. I bet you're chuffed to bits.
I have a few very old memory sticks. They match my very old memory!

message 248: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments That's lovely, Ginge. And thank you. I'm now awaiting the contract.

Thanks, Emz. :)xx

And Ignite, I'll keep looking but I have memory sticks everywhere. xx

message 249: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I have memories everyhwere - cue the violins!

message 250: by Carl (new)

Carl Ashmore (carlashmore) | 213 comments I used to play the euphonium. Does that count?x
