Hi all,Yesterday, I had a meeting in London regarding 'The Time Hunters' with Zoe and Liz from the Blair Partnership (JK Rowling's new literary agents) and it was most enjoyable. They were incredibly lovelyand very supportive. It wasn't a 'sign on the dotted line kind of meeting', it was more a 'get to know you and maybe we can work together at shaping the MS for publishers' kinda meeting, but with no firm commitment on either part at this stage.
It's a new agency and they're in the process of forging their identity but they have a great ethos to authors, so who knows ...
I look forward to seeing if we can develop a relationship. If it's not to be, then that's fine (it was nice to be a part of the publishing inner sanctum for the afternoon), but they were wonderfully approachable.

I think so. They've asked for exclusivity at the moment and I think there may be one or two more people there to read it. Either way, I'm just pleased that my first encounter with that side of the industry was such a positive one. We'll just have to see where it leads ...

Well, the Blair people got back and said they think TH has 'real commercial potential' and have asked me if I'm prepared to make some changes, then we can take it from there. Of course, I agreed. Interesting times. :)

I think I missed the point, Ignite. Hey, you never told me what you used to do for a living that makes you such an excellent proof reader?
Erm. I'm that irrascible biddy that shouts at the television when people use incorrect English. I'm retired now Carl but I was a school Administrative Officer and I made it my business to ensure that nothing left the school that was incorrect. Reports, policies, material to governors or parents, all had the Ignite Red Pen treatment! Surprisingly, many teachers have trouble with grammatical constructs.
Ah, I see. Well, being a lecturer myself it doesn't surprise me :) And I'm sure you were both formidable and hugely respected in those circles.xx
