message 1: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie For anyone that's read this recently, or just has a good memory... what happened with Ray killing a bunch of people? I'm reading the third book in the series right now and he keeps referencing that, but I can't remember it at all. >_<

It's really distracting because I'm just not feeling for the guy like I probably should be.

Contrarius | 44 comments Lessee.....all those people in the tent at the local fair, probably. Quite a few people died over the course of the book, but that would be the place for one mass murder. Right now I can't remember exactly what happened there.

Tasula | 150 comments I can't give you exact number or who, but when Ray tried to catch the predator, a lot of people who had been "brainwashed" into protecting the predator got in the way. By no means was Ray a bad guy- he has always tried to protect the innocent- even if they are currently trying to kill him.

message 4: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie I know it's just a matter of him blaming himself for something he really couldn't control and I kind of remembered very generally what happened, but not really the meat of it.

Maybe I should have reread the previous book(s) before reading this one. >_<

Thanks for the help, guys.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 237 comments He really had no choice. He tried not to hurt the people, but they were going to kill him. It was a bad situation. I didn't hold it against him, but I can see that Ray would have some issues.

Plus, some of them probably would die anyway because of contact with the 'alien dog.'

TheThirdLie I get that a lot of the protagonists in UF blame themselves for things, but most of the time it's ambiguous as to whether or not you can really blame them. I feel, with Ray, that it's a pretty black and white situation. Especially in the third book.

Ed Nemo (ed_nemo) | 112 comments EDIT: I was thinking about Circle of Enemies, so I will delete my comment. I didn't think Game of Cages was as good as either the 1st or 3rd book.

message 8: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie Game of Cages is the second book. Circle of Enemies is the third.

I agree, though, he could have used the book and at least learned a couple things.

message 9: by Contrarius (new)

Contrarius | 44 comments Nonono. At his current level of knowledge/ability, he would have had to give up all his human emotions/conscience in order to get the knowledge in the "book". That's why he fled when he was in it. As he told Annalise, neither one of them is ready for the book yet.

message 10: by TheThirdLie (new)

TheThirdLie I get that but it would just be nice to not have to hear him talk about his one and only spell all the time. >_<
