Ur welcome. I was unwittingly a major contributor to it... .so I am trying to be more careful myself!
Wow, thanks for bringing that to my attention Lori. I never thought of that. I'm still learning the ropes of Goodreads! So much to learn!
You can also make it even easier on yourself and under preferences you can change it so your posts aren't automatically added to your update feed so you don't have to remember each and every time you post. If you want something added you can still check the box "add to my update feed" any time you post.
Hi, Tried to find the preferences setting area but keeping ending up in my profile or my acct... What screen do I start at to be able to not have to remember to uncheck the "add to my..."
Thanx!
JS
Click on "Edit my profile" (in parenthesis)you may need to enter your password
Click on the "feeds" tab at the top
uncheck the box that says "comment on a book or group discussion board"
at the bottom, click on "save"
I had to walk myself through it again as they have changed it recently. Hope this helps!
I should have read this discussion before I posted a comment on another subject a few minutes ago. I saw the box mentioned but I did not UNcheck it. I will remember to do so in the future. (I had never heard about Spoilers before.)
Heather,Thank you. Hoping it works--at least I could find it. I find I still have to uncheck each time I update a book I have finished reading. Maybe I am still doing something wrong.
Do enjoy having a way to track what I have read.
Thanx again
Jan, if you're still having to uncheck the box every time after following Heather's instructions, something is wrong. There's a bug in GR since the new release that isn't saving our preferences correctly. Supposedly if you keep trying to save your new preferences, they will eventually "stick." The GR team is supposed to be working on fixing this.
I think I messed up before I could find out all the ins & outs. I was trying to find them. I'm new to Goodreads and posting to discussions. Sorry... :(
Lori, thank you so much. I've been here almost a year and have never heard of it before. I'll definitely watch my posts.
There is also a semi-new html code you can use to hide spoilers within your posts here. If you click on the gold link in the upper right corner of your text box... it will give you the code.
Pretty brilliant stuff!
Pretty brilliant stuff!
Thanks again Lori. Another thing that's great to know. I knew about the books and authors but not the rest.
I'm one of those weirdos that I can read a spoiler or a wiki on it and it STILL doesn't prevent me from watching that tv show/movie or reading that book LOL But I totally get what you're saying.

It was brought to my attention that some of our members are being unintentionally 'spoiled' on books.
I will explain how.
When we post in a spoiler thread, even tho we are posting in a safe, spoiler-supported area, our posts are showing up on our friends home pages....
In order to stop that from happening, and to remove the chance of unintentionally spoiling something for our buddies, you must click the box in the lower right hand corner of the screen when you are typing your post.
Do you see it? its the Add to my Update Feed box??? You need to make sure that box is UNCHECKED before clicking the post button.....
PLease, lets all make more of a conscious effort to remember to click that box and protect our goodreads friends eyes from unwanted spoilers.
But PLEASE, continue to post in the spoiler threads, its ok. DOnt be afriad!!!
Thanks.
any questions about what I am talking about or how to do it, post em here.....
