Just started Dissolution and am intrigued. I just finished Trust Your Eyes which I loved. I gave it 4 stars but I think it was an "almost 5 stars"' in my opinion. Still working on Enemy Women too.

Listening to And When She Was Good By Laura Lippman, excellent, reading Undefeated by Mike Freeman also very good

I just finished Dead Old by Maureen Carter and I recommend it. The main character is interesting, substantial, with some flaws (as we have all), and a passion for her work. The book also offers some samples of her domestic life, temporarily at her mother's house, with also her grandmother. My only difficulty with it was the numerous allusions to public British figures and briticisms that I did not know, as English is my second language. But I can see as a native English speaker may savour them.
Just finished Girl With Birthmark by Hakan Nesser. Enjoyed it very much. This was the first eBook I've checked out from my public library. I wish more of my favorite authors were available, but still this service will be a money-saver for me.
I can't believe how long it's been since I posted in this group! I was traveling most of September and early October(including a fun trip to Cleveland for Bouchercon). During my travels, I read The Mapping of Love and Death and really enjoyed it. I've put the first book in that series on my to-read list, so I can go back and catch up to the one I read, the 7th.
BOCD in the car: STORIES I ONLY TELL MY FRIENDS - Rob Lowe, autobiography, CD 6 of 7, excellentPurse book: THE TAKEN: Celestial Blues Book One - Vicki Pettersson, UF, TPB, excellent
Bedside NookBook: SHOT AT AND MISSED - Larry Hillhouse, suspense, good so far
I just reviewed The Sex Club by L.J. Sellers, which was a great book. I'm now reading an amateur sleuth mystery set in Vancouver called Depth of Field by Michael Blair. It's also a good whodunnit.
Just finished Louise Penny's The Beautiful Mystery and it was, she just keeps getting better. My friend and I agree this is her best one yet. Heartily recommend.

I've only read her first book and really enjoyed it, so I'm woefully behind. I met Louise Penny at a panel we were both on about 5 years ago. She was really kind. She also has a good newsletter to keep fans informed about her books, and what she's been up to.
Thanks for the tip, Jim ...you and I have similar taste. Love those bleak, chilly Scandinavian mysteries ...especially when our desert temps climb into the triple digits.Just started Araldur Indridason's "Arctic Chill" ...even though it's only 83 right now.
My wife heard Louise penny talk and sid she could have been a stand up comedian, she was very funny and entertaining. Her books are marvelous.
Currently reading Before I Go To Sleep
and listening to 10th Anniversary
. Both are really good!! :)
Thanks, Debra, for reading and reviewing my work! I appreciate your time and support. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. L.J.

Secrets to Die for
I just had knee surgery and I'm listening to the Louise Penny books that I haven't yet read. I just finished Bury the Dead. It incorporates the usual beloved characters and Quebec history along with mystery. Now listening to The Cruelest Month which is her 2nd book. Next is Beautiful Mystery. The books are getting me through my rehab exercises!
Just finished The Racketeer by John Grisham and Mad River by John Sandford, liked them both but The Racketeer was a little more interesting.

Mark wrote: "Just finished The Racketeer by John Grisham and Mad River by John Sandford, liked them both but The Racketeer was a little more interesting."I really like The Racketeer. It reminds me a little bit of The Count of Monte Cristo.
I finished The Forgotten Man by Robert Crais and Mr. Lucky by James Swain. I really enjoyed both books and would give each 4 stars.
Reading Janice Hamrick's DEATH ON TOUR was a delightful experience. As Jocelyn, a high school teacher, is escorted through Egypt's antiquities with a group of interesting characters (a la Agatha Christie), she stumbles--literally--across a couple murders that, oddly enough, seem to be following their tour group as it moves along the Nile to the various attractions. Hamrick writes well and the plot is paced nicely. Which I expected, frankly, because this book was the 2010 First Crime Novel Award Winner. A fun read, especially if you happen to be on vacation.
I'm reading Whiplash and enjoying it. I got hooked and want to keep reading. I'm also reading Worth Dying For, which is, well, a Reacher novel. I'm a fan.
I'm currently reading Phantom by Jo Nesbø. It's another in the Harry Hole series. I'm really enjoying it!
I recently read these two books:The Professional by Robert B. Parker. I think it was the last Spenser novel, and Parker's age and poor health were apparent. Spenser was still Spenser, but the plot seemed weak and contrived.
Robert B. Parker's Killing The Blues by Michael Brandman. This was a Jesse Stone novel, perhaps completed after Parker's death by another author. It had several plot threads, each well developed. I enjoyed it a lot.
I finished Chasing Darkness by Robert Crais. Another great read! Now I'm on The First Rule by Robert Crais
I'm reading The Brutal Telling and Bury Your Dead back-to-back, and I recommend that any other Louise Penny fans read these two books together, because they are connected. Otherwise, you may be disappointed in The Brutal Telling.
Ashes of the Elements by Alys Clare. So far so good. This is the second book in this series that I have read.
I just started Dark Horse by Tami Hoag. This is the first book I have read by her and so far it is keeping my interest. Hopefully it will keep my interest all the way through, it is a long book.
I am reading Killing Kennedy by Bill O'Reilly and listening to Winter Of The World by Ken Follett, both are excellent.
Pamela wrote: "I'm cracking open The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo today after work. "Don't know if there is an in between here, some folks love it some hate it. I fall into the first category. thought that the main character is quite a strong person, loved all 3 of the books, saw the movie in Swedish and English.
Started reading Glad Tidings, an overly sentimental set of Christmas Stories. Recommend it only for this time of year and if you have a need for wish fullment. You gotta believe in Hallmark
Just finished The Panther by Nelson Demille, just OK,starting The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro like it so far.
I just finished
and enjoyed it. However, I figured out the killers about 3/4 of the way through but wanted to see what happens to Father Keller.
I have just finished The Art Forger by B.A. Shapiro, excellent book very detailed on the forgery process, but I found it fascinating. Good Read
Just finished Tess Gerritsen The Surgeon. She is a brilliant author. Couldnt put the book down read well into the night. Going to read Harvest now. Im sure I wont be disappointed I have enjoyed all her books so far.

I enjoyed all three of them when I read them 2yrs ago.

And I tried three times and on the third time I got as far as page 150 before giving up. Didn't care for it at all.
I just finished reading and reviewing The Book of Spies by Gayle Lynds, which I really enjoyed. I haven't read a spy novel for a couple of decades. It was fun to see how technology has changed the spy biz. I'm now reading Titmuss Regained by John Mortimer. I was a fan of the Rumple series and although this book is quite different Mortimer's humor still shines through. Really enjoying it.
I am reading Faithful Place and I am really enjoying it so far. Last week I read Broken Harbor and I really enjoyed that as well, I love her writing style!
I'm reading Torri Carrington's "Queens Ransom". It's a Sofie Metropolis book. I've read the whole series and it's really a cute. It's a little like Janet Evanovich, but with a greek twist.
I just finished Blind Pursuit. It was a very good and suspenseful book. My heart was racing at times reading it. The only downfall was that the ebook had a few half sentences and some other minor typos.
i've just started the new Tim Ellis book.Footprints of the dead. really enjoying it so farcome check out my book reviews on my new facebook page, please like it while your there.
