branewurms | 7 comments Can a hardcover and a paperback share the same ISBN? B/c I am holding a copy of this book, ISBN 0553119303, and it's a paperback, not hardback. I didn't want to change the details to say paperback unless I was sure there wasn't a hardback and paperback published under the same ISBN.

willaful Yes, they can. Confusing, isn't it!

willaful The cover in that case really looks like a paperback, but of course it might just be the wrong cover. I suspect this probably is a format error, but I'll check around a bit to see what I can find.

willaful I'm seeing listings for both a hardcover and a paperback under that ISBN. Nothing I see strikes me as definitively reliable, unfortunately errors on the internet tend to perpetuate themselves.

branewurms | 7 comments Alternate cover edition it is then, I guess?

willaful Lacking a real authoritative answer, I think that would be playing it safe.

branewurms | 7 comments Will do, thanks!
