In chapters 3-4 the child of the SSPLA commander is wanted to go to school in Ethiopia but during his journey they have a horrific accident causeing the boat that they traveled on too flip over and kill many children. After the commanders son is okay he only sends a message, to tell him to continue on with his journey to go to school.
