Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments OK so I am sure I'm not the only person with a huge TBR. I'm a print reader and my TBR is closing in on 1100 at this point. Mostly because of all these freakin' series. I used to just grab a book and read it and not be concerned about series order. But then I joined paperbackswap and goodreads and became obsessed with reading series in order.

But now I'm feeling overwhelmed and just want to read what I have w/o worrying about order. Because of course I always seem to come across them out or order.

So I thought people could list series they read out of order and had no trouble following. I'm goign to list some series I have and get opinions.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments Series I want order opinion on:

Psy-Changlines by Nalini Singh (read 1-3, missing 5-7, have the rest published so far because that's what my closing Borders had)-1 vote for reading in order.

Bullet Catchers by Roxanne st. Claire (read 3, have #1, 5, 7, 8)

Ghost Walkers by Christine Feehan (read 1-2, have 3-5 & 7,8 but missing #6)

Harrison Investigations by Heather Graham (read 1-4, have 7)

Code Name by Christina Skye (have 1,3,4)

Buchanans by Susan Mallery (have 3)

Goddard Project by Lucy Monroe (have 5)

Breeds by Lora Leigh-(read 1-5, have 6-8,14, 18, 21, 22, 24)

Wilde by Janelle Denison (read 1, have 5, 8, 9)

I have a lot of historical romances that are random numbers of series so any HR fans feel free to list series you know where order doesn't matter. Where they're just connected by relatives or friends. (like The Cynsters or The Mallory's)

That's all I can think of right now but I'm sure I'll come up with more.

D.G. | 2752 comments You really need to read the Psy changeling in order. The conflict between Psy and the other races really heats up after book 4 and there's a lot of plots etc. going on that depend on what happened in previous books.

Cannot tell you about the rest.

D.G. | 2752 comments I'll check your TBR and see what you have that can be read on their own.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments ok good to know on the psy-changelings.

I'm just trying to read up some of what I have and filling in series holes is making it hard to reduce the TBR pile.

D.G. | 2752 comments I can imagine.

I checked your TBR and you have tons of stuff in there that I haven't read but this is my opinion on some series/standalones you have:

Good Standalones:
The Peach Keeper (All the books by this author are standalones)
Swap
Slow Heat in Heaven
The Duke of Shadows
The Secret Life of Bees
His at Night

Must be read in order:
Mercy Thompson by Patricia Briggs
I-Team by Pamela Clare
Robin Hood by Marsha Canham

Part of a series you can read as a standalone:
And Then He Kissed Her (I loved this book but the second in the series couldn't even compare so I'm thinking of leaving it at that. Also the books are almost not related at all, just that the heroines live in the boarding house and barely talk to one another.)

Not worthy to read (IMO)
Haunted Bookshop by Alice Kimberly: I read the 5 books in this series and nothing barely changed in the 5 books (a very similar plot and we barely learned anything about the ghost.) So I suggest you try the first book in the series to see if you'll like it but I can tell from now that it's a very similar plot and we almost learn nothing new in the first 5 books.

Sandra | 25908 comments Mary, I agree that Psy-Changelings need to be read in order.

And I also think you can read Breeds out of order. I've read most of them out of order and I'm now going back and reading them in order. I'm not picking up any extra insight into overaching plotlines, so you should be safe.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 2484 comments I read the first Haunted Bookshop book and I liked it. I decided just today to read the Breed books out of order. I'm just going to read the ones I have. I read the first 5 or 6 and I already get the whole "where the Breeds came from/mating thing".

I think some of these non-paranormal historical romances that I have-I'm just going to read whatever ones I have w/o concern of series order.

Thanks for checking out my TBR DG. I appreciate it.
