Lobstergirl How do you edit a setting in order to merge it with another setting? This setting, New York City, New York, should be merged with New York, New York. But I tried to edit it and some red coloring appeared, but nothing else. It didn't edit, and it didn't give me a message saying I couldn't edit.

Kim | 607 comments Should it be the other way around? Wiki has the city listed as New York City

Lobstergirl I don't know why wiki would be the authority, as opposed to the U.S. post office. The city is known as New York, New York. No one says, "New York City, New York." It's redundant.

There are 300+ entries with the setting New York, New York, and 14 for New York City, New York. (Yes, I did check first.)

Susan I believe the city by itself is called New York City, so it's shown as a CITY and not the entire state...but with the state added, it would be
New York, New York.

Riona (rionafaith) | 122 comments Speaking as a New Yorker, NO ONE says New York City, New York. However, New York, New York is specifically Manhattan (and typically used only for sending mail), whereas New York City refers to all 5 boroughs, so they're not exactly the same thing.

The salsa company says NEW YORK CITY?!?!?
LOL
and yeah... that's what I said...
it's not NYC, NY - it's only NYC when you talk about the city by itself -
i.e. I'm flying to New York City

Susan and that is ONLY if you're not from there! LOL
