Heather B I was just wondering what everyone's first impression of this novel was? Just from the first few pages or chapter.

Hylian Princess I loved it from the beginning!

Ruby Lin I thought I had this story all figured out before I even began reading it, not heeding my friend's advice that it'll surprise me, I mean it's just a re-telling of Romeo and Juliet, right? Nope, I was so wrong. My point is: READ IT!!!

Heather B It caught my interest right from the start too. I really liked the writing style so I think that helped also.

I'm about halfway into it now and I'm still not sure exactly what's going to happen. Ruby, you're right, it's not just a simple Romeo and Juliet re-telling.

One of my favourite things about this novel is learning all the history of Siena. The author definitely did her research for this book. It really makes me want to travel there for myself and see it all. And she does a really good job of mixing the fiction of the story with the truth that honestly I don't know enough about either the setting or the original story to tell what's fiction and what's not.

Nikki I didn't want to read it at first, but my friend pushed it on me and I ended up loving it. I actually went out and bought by own copy after I finished reading hers. It is a great book and I was having trouble putting it down.

Ever I was like ''WOW''.. seriousely??? is this for real?? no Verona? No Capulet..!!! wonderful...you just can't imagine how I felt while reading it...specialy part V,the ending of maestro ambrogio's journal,I mean the end of Romeo & Juliet....I had never been moved or touched like this before...I absolutely LOVED it..it was a combination of all feelings and I cant wait for it to become movie oneday..

I think it'd be a great film, but only if done right.

Sue I loved this book. It took me the first 2 chapters to really get into it but then I couldn't put it down. This was a book that I won from Goodreads and I'm glad otherwise I might not have picked it up to read. Loved learning about Siena, Italy. Good book- a MUST READ.

Melissa I really enjoyed this book. It was predicable but I still a fun read. I also couldn't put it down!

Nicole Evelina It took me a bit to get into this book, but I absoutely LOVED it. She had me once she started telling the original Romeo and Juliet story. This is the first book in a long time that I truly fell in love with and was sad to leave its world at the end. I've since read it two more times and I pick up on things I missed before each time. It's tied for my #1 favorite book.

Hylian Princess I don't know the story of Romeo and Juliet very well. I don't know if that made this book better or worse. Maybe I'll read the actual Romeo and Juliet and find out.
But I loved the history! The whole time I wanted to figure out what was true and what was not (besides the obvious, of course). For example, was Shakespeare really not the original author of Romeo and Juliet?

Sue I loved the book. It has been years since I'd read the play (high school) but this book brought it all back and I just loved the idea that possibly Shakespeare really wasn't the original author of the play.

Catherine I absolutely loved it! I am hard pressed into wondering the truth about the actual location of the original story and people....but I can see some truth to it. I loved all the history of it. and the fact that the characters in the present were so connected to those in the past!

Heather B I'm loving it so far, but just don't have the time to read it with everything going on in school. I'm hoping to finish it next week once I'm finished exams. I can't wait to see how it ends.

Susana The story was unique, and the writing exquisite. One of the best books that i read in 2011, and one of the few, that from time to time, i feel like re-reading.

ضحى الحداد at first I expected that I would hate it since it is very long but as soon as I began reading it I instantly fell in love with it .. most recommended

Susan Bright Once I started reading this book, I did not want to put it down. I thought that it was beautifully written and was a wonderful blend of romance, adventure, history and mystery! I loved reading about Romeo and Juliet as well as Julie’s adventures in Italy. The many twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat.

I agree. I was very impressed with all the research she must have done in order to add all of the historical knowledge to the novel. I loved this book and a big part of it was all the rich history that was incorporated into the story.

Kimberly I listened to this as an audiobook and it was fantastic. The story was great but the narrator had the best voice for listening to this story. It's amazing!!!
