Red Fox Books in Glens Falls is closing.

The following message was in this month's email from our local library, Crandall Public Library:

"A Sad Farewell to Red Fox Books!"

"We are deeply saddened by the news that our neighbor, partner, and friend, Red Fox Books, will soon be closing their doors. Red Fox was a true asset to our community. They were there for Crandall time and again with great ideas, expert guidance, and inside connections, not to mention time, wisdom, and enthusiasm. Susan and Naftali, we sincerely appreciate the support you have offered over the years and wish you all the best. Red Fox Books will be missed."

I feel the same. Red Fox Books was a fine addition to our community and it's sad to see it close.

I'll not only miss our Red Fox Bookstore here in town, but I'll miss Sue and Naftali, the husband and wife team who owned the store. Although I had very little interaction with them, I'll miss knowing they are there, ready to answer my e-mail questions and always adding a personal aspect to their business and to the small-town atmosphere here in Glens Falls.

Glens Falls is not too big and not too small. It's just right -- "Home Town USA" -- as labeled by Look Magazine years ago:
