how was everyone's Thanksgiving?
do anything special??
anyone else go Black Friday shopping??

message 153: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) my thanksgiving was really good, but it feels like it went by too fast. i was anticipating all of the food since about halloween, and then i got full so fast i felt like i couldn't enjoy everything i wanted to eat! my boyfriend and i went with my family to my aunts house only about 10 minutes from my parents house. we had a fake thanksgiving with his family today. and last night was my 5 year high school reunion which was actually an absolute blast.
it's been a busy few days, but now i can relax for a few more days and finish reading Twilight!

today i was really really bad..

i decided that i needed a nice pair of black boots for my presentation tomorrow...so i go in there..with the mission of just getting black boots..and i ended up getting my boots for 65 (not bad!)and then i may or may not have picked up a super cute pair of heels that were originally $70 bucks..for $35..yay!

haha but i really shouldn't have done it..although im very happy about it!

anyone else have a problem with self control & shoes like me??

message 155: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Jamie.. I'm just like that, but with purses.. and books, of course. I want a bunch of purses, but thank god I'm more for just the style than the name brand or my credit card bill would be outrageous!!! I buy from vintage stores or target or the mall. Nothing fancy.. just ones I like.

message 156: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Oh I'm so there! Just in this past year I have become a shoeaholic and I have some issues with spending my money on things that I don't really need.

message 157: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
ooh purses..yes!
i'm the same way..i buy what i love rather than based on brand. i mean..i do love certain brands..but if i don't love it..i'm not spending my money..

caiti..i'm with you..i too spend ridiculous amounts of money on things i don't need! its a problem haha

message 158: by Janet (new)

Janet I am that way on shoes! I love buying shoes and it makes me so happy. When something bad used to happen to me my mom would take me out to buy a new pair of shoes everytime! Haha. It is just something that always makes me happy.

message 159: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) I'm like that with clothes mostly. I can usually control the impulses on shoes & accessories.. but tops in particular I lose all self control. It has gotten to the point that I can't go anywhere near the mall or a store because I know I will spend money. My closet is overflowing but I always feel like I have nothing to wear. It's bad!

message 160: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) oh and ps, jamie.. at least you came away with some great deals. sometimes you just can't pass them up!

my heart was so happy.
my boyfriend says i have a clothing problem.. :)

message 162: by Jen (new)

Jen | 111 comments I guess this is a little delayed but my thanksgiving was great. ate lotsss of turkey and played cards with my cousins/watched eagles game. Friday I didnt do much black friday shopping but did stop by target to get some good deal DVDs. It was surprisingly not as crowded as I expected. Friday night saw Twilight again haha and Saturday went out to Applebees with some friends. Nothing tooo exciting this past weekend. It was a nice break from work/school though.

mmm turkey..i could go for another thanksgiving dinner right now. haha.

glad to hear that you had a good break!

message 164: by [deleted user] (new)

i have been hooked on video games i just finished gears of war 2 on thanksgiving and i am looking forward to dead space, supposed to be scary so....... thats the reason why i dont have a girlfriend

message 165: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Jamie, I could totally stand for another Turkey dinner. The day after Thanksgiving we threw all of the left overs in a pan and put it in the oven. It was very nummy!

Haha Gene that probably saves you a lot of trouble!

i love thanksgiving leftovers!

message 167: by Janet (new)

Janet Haha Gene, my boyfriend plays those games all the time, so there is hope for you!! He is still playing GOW2 even though he already beat it...or something? Haha.

Turkey sandwhiches are the best after Thanksgiving!! MMM!

message 168: by Lauren (new)

Lauren Williams (mrslaurenwilliams) | 425 comments Me and my boyfriend both play the online game World of Warcraft. Yup... we are both HUGE nerds!

message 169: by Janet (new)

Janet I heard the new World of Warcraft that just came out is pretty sweet!...That's just what I heard from my boyfriends little brother.

I am all about the old school. I have my original Nintendo Entertainment System with a lot of games, a Super Nintendo, and my original Gameboy. I love the old school. My next will be a Nintendo 64 because I like the Mario Cart and 007 games but then that's about as new as I will go! Haha :)

message 170: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) One of the morning guys at one of the local radio station was talking crap about the new World of Warcraft virus and the zombies. I just had to chuckle, mainly because I don't know anything when it comes to computer games and video games.

Does anyone remember myst? I couldn't get past the first level! I felt so dumb!

I have to agree with you Janet, I'm all about the old school too! That's all I can play is some Mario Brothers, Simpson's Road Rage on PS2 and The Lion King on Sega. HA!

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
ahh this past summer i found the same one online! i was so addicted!

message 173: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I definitely am old school too. I love Mario! But my boyfriend is super into video games, so now I play all sorts of different games. I'm amazing at Rock Band/Guitar Hero. When I play online, I beat all sorts of guys, and they get mad at me. Anywho, I'm pretty sure you can download all of the old school Nintendo stuff on the Wii. Pretty cool.

message 174: by Janet (new)

Janet Yeah you can. My roomate always downloads old Nintendo stuff to the Wii. I am like, we have an old Nintendo!! Haha. I love Guitar Hero. So fun!! My boyfriend wants me to learn to play more 360 but I just cannot figure it out. Haha.

message 175: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha it took me so long to just figure out all the buttons! The Nintendo was so simple, and the 360 controller looks extremely intimidating! But once you get the hang of it, it's like second nature.

ahh i love Rock Band!! all the guys at my boyfriend's apartment were so into it in the first half of the year and we played all the time..i only play drums and sing..haha i can't do the guitar.

funny story about Rock Band:

so..one night after my boyfriends away basketball game..(my friend(whose boyfriend lives with mine) and my sister and i had went to it)..we decided to go back to their apartment to surprise them with all these goodies since they lost and they were bummed..so theres like 7 guys that live at this apartment..so we are thinking that a bunch of people there..we walk in and the only person that was home was this one kid..so it was kind of awkward and we were like..hey lets play rock band..so we played for like 30 minutes..the 3 girls and this kid..and when all the other roommates walked in they were sooo confused as to why there were 3 girls and this kid Chris playing Rock Band at like midnight. haha. you probably had to be there..but their faces were priceless...especially because my sister was there.

message 177: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Haha that's awesome.

message 178: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I've recently gotten really into video games. Right now it's Fable II, but I'm also learning to play Skate. Before this was Lego Batman and Mario Galaxy. I reallly want the new Animal Crossing for Christmas and hope my boyfriend has picked up on the hints...

message 179: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) I finished Fable II awhile back. It was pretty good! If you like that, you should play Mass Effect. It's amazing.

how was everyone's weekend? Do anything fun??

message 181: by Janet (new)

Janet Nope! It was actually a pretty pathetic weekend as far as weekends go. My boyfriend stayed in Denver since it's all about finals up here and would be boring, so I didn't see him. My roomate and I made gingerbread houses but she invited her friend over to do it too, so they kind of left me out. It's annoying but my roomate is kind of like that. She got me the book Marley and Me for Christmas and I was excited. But also felt bad because I really don't have money to do Christmas for anyone but my family this year. I am hoping I can find some things at the dollar store for her. Haha. Then, I am just working on projects and finals today! Hooray! GO BRONCOS!! :)

message 182: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) So I came up with a random idea today. I think that on DVD's they should include the soundtrack and you could rip it and put it on your iPod. They could have "ghetto" copies for movie rentals so that way if you just rent a movie you either have to go buy the actual movie or buy the soundtrack.

message 183: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey Baguinat (kelseybaguinat) Caiti: I would definitely be down for that!

sounds like a good plan to me!!

message 185: by Jen (new)

Jen | 111 comments i forget if there is another thread for random thoughts questions but does anyone else here in the group check out the most read books for each week on goodreads using the explore option. It use to show up with like twilight ( obviously) as #1 with around 300 some reads and now it is showing up with the highest number as 18. I was just a little confused on why this randomly changed...

message 186: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) It's still pretty far up there isn't it, but it's weird looking at what's holding the top spots.

message 187: by Jen (last edited Dec 08, 2008 01:44PM) (new)

Jen | 111 comments hmm mine still shows up as the top spot only having 18 reads. whereas before even the last books on their list had around 30. I dunno why but its just bothering me a lot haha.

ohh btw it wasnt a comment having to do with twilight. i was just curious why all the numbers in general had dropped.

its saying the same thing for me too..weird.

message 190: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) Grrr, I have pink eye! But I didn't go to school today so I guess that is a good thing. I'm such a slacker I only have one more day of classes after today and then finals. I just don't want to be there anymore this semester. Sorry I know that is random, but that's what this thread is right?

message 193: by Silvia (last edited Dec 14, 2008 11:11AM) (new)

Silvia (silverware) | 436 comments I had my wisdom teeth taken out lasted tuesday --> which resulted in too many meds where I felt dizzy or sleepy and I could barely stay awake in my last classes before finals. The meds I was taking were supposed to be taken with food, so you wouldnt be nauseous, but all I was allowed to have was soup so...yep nausea. Oh and somehow my face has bruised LMAO Sexy can I?

EEEK FINALS!

message 194: by Caiti Casey (new)

Caiti Casey Spiess (mrssteven) That does not sound like fun Silvia!!!!

message 195: by Janet (new)

Janet Silvia, I got so sick when I got my wisdom teeth out! So I totally know how you feel. They had to give me a shot to keep me from throwing up, it sucked. Good luck and I hope everyone is taking good care of you!!

message 196: by Heather (new)

Heather (andshewontsleep) Silvia, I had my wisdom teeth out along with another tooth back in September. The meds made me so nauseous, thus making me not be able to eat anything. It was so awful, I ended up throwing up once and it was just all blood from my mouth. And I was so afraid that I was going to rip out my stitches. I hope you're starting to feel better and eat more normal foods. It definitely takes awhile!

message 197: by Silvia (new)

Silvia (silverware) | 436 comments Thanks for all the nice comments. I am on solid foods now and I am happy I can enjoy choloate once more. The only leftover effect is this face bruise LMAO! AHAHA! But I can definaly deal with that!

message 198: by Justine (new)

Justine (paperbackheart) I haven't had my wisdom teeth out yet and now they're poking through and ruining two years of braces...eek. I've only heard horrible things about the procedure and I already have an irrational fear of dentists (medical professionals of every kind, really), so I really don't want to have them taken out.

message 199: by Tami (new)

Tami | 3103 comments Mod
I don't/didn't have wisdom teeth! I must not be wise enough.
Every time I go to the dentist and they do x-rays, they remark that I have already had them out, and don't seem to believe me when I say no. So Yay! no oral surgery!

message 200: by Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner), The Founding Bookworm (new)

Jamie (The Perpetual Page-Turner) (perpetualpageturner) | 4407 comments Mod
i don't have them either Tami!
glad to hear everything is going pretty well Silvia!
Justine..i'm so with you on that fear.
