Mischa is so obsessed with Martiya's story that it basically ruins his life. Rachel goes back to America, and he's not likely to follow. And he can hardly pay the bills.

We only hear a little more about Josh. Wish we'd seen more of him in the story. Remember Herbalife anyone? I do... sometime back in the 80s or so. Is it still around?

I like Vinai's hiker's hut. I wonder if Mischa (the author) actually tried opium. He sure describes the sensations in detail; like someone who KNOWS!

The mystery of why Martiya murdered David is finally told. It all makes a sad kind of sense. And it's sad to see the Dyala village becoming more modernized. Although most of the villagers abandoned Christianity after David died, the village was never the same again.

Here is my opportunity to trundle out one of my favorite quotes:

"Love is a grave metal illness" – Plato paraphrased

There's hotel in California called the Madonna Inn. It is a favored honeymoon/anniversary spot, because it is pure fantasy. You can rent a jungle room outfitted in animal skin decor; a tropical paradise room complete with a waterfall shower; a snow room with icicle walls, bear skin rugs and a roaring fireplace, or you can rent a red room, a blue room, a green room, whatever color you think will be bring you to favorable light while casually lounging on the bed! (Er so I've heard!)

Khun Vinai must have gotten his Hiker Hut resort idea from them. Doesn't it sound like fun?
