This book wasn't written yet when I was in high school. But I've read it. ;-)

I just recently re-read this for the first time in twenty five years and it is remains a genuine work of art - one of the best American novels ever.
Just finishing reading this after a period of about 45 years (read it when was in my teens & remembered it with great affection).
What a truly deserving 1001 book...
I always wondered why she never wrote any more novels but if you only write one in your life this is a 'Jem' of a book to write..!!!. (pardon the pun).

I think this is the greatest book ever written. I have read it at four different stages of my life (4th grade, 7th grade, 10th grade, and college) and get something new out of it every time. Think it is time to give it another read!

I agree. No book will ever compare. To Kill a Mockingbird is the one novel that I revisit every year and that I will always gain something new from.
To Kill a Mockingbird is a perfect jewel of literature. I've read it and taught it many times and I never tire of reading it.
I'm not an American and this part of history is not something I grew up with, but it's a book I'd like my kids to read.
I want to re-read this one soon. I haven't read it in several years but I loved it when I did. The movie is incredible, too.
Where are the Atticus Finches of the world? We could use a few more right about now...I JUST read this for the first time (shamefully, I waited until I was 51), and I loved it so much a few sections made me teary. And I don't get teary.
I think this is an important book, and I will be happy to zealously promote it from now forward.
Atticus Finch, especially when he looks and sounds like Gregory Peck, is the most perfect man imaginable. And Scout is a delight. I've heard tell that high schools today are making students analyze this so much that there are actually people who don't like this book. That makes me very sad. I think this is a story that you should just let wash over you. Yes, it has a significant socio-political message, but it's so much more than that. It's a story about the intersection of the Real and the Ideal, and it's magical.
I have to say this is an amazing book in which to represent racism and how people should properly act upon it. It opened my eyes to the real world and made me understand more about society and our world. I definitely recommend reading this before your time passes :)
