^ | 86 comments I have a signed first edition of Tim Smit's "The Lost Gardens of Heligan", hbk, published in 1997 by Victor Gollancz, London, ISBN-13 9780575064225.

I can't create an edition record, because that ISBN number has already been taken by an edition published by Trafalgar Square, in 1998 (i.e. the following year).

So, at present, all editions in Goodreads of TLGOH are displaying an erroneous date of first publication.

On searching worldcat.org and isbndb.com, only my 1997 Victor Gollancz publication is lisited.

From http://www.ipgbook.com/the-lost-garde... it looks like the Trafalgar Square hbk is no longer available.

Did the UK (Gollancz 1997) and US (Trafalgar Square 1998)hbk editions really take the same ISBN?

Please, how can I enter my UK first edition onto Goodreads?

Very many thanks,

Sub Nomine

Q1) The cover is the same, not different. I assume (but do not know)that the contents of the US book are the same; but then why should there be no record in either isbndb.com and worldcat.org?

Q2) If the ISBN is entered only as a Librarian Note, then how can the date of first publication propagate through to the other title (or is that function based on title?)

My main concern was Q2. I didn't want to risk it if it could confuse matters further.

thanks

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments As you say your edition is published earlier than the current original publication date then we can change that date to be the early date which will update all the editions, that's fine to do.

There are lots of books unfortunately that share isbn's
